June 27, 2023:Royal Families, Security（ロイヤルファミリー、警護）

When the members of the Imperial Family go out, they are always under such heavy guard. The guard is so tight that it is difficult to approach.
But the way to guard royal family members varies from country to country. When I was in Norway, I saw a royal family with no guards. After I had a meeting with a customer in Bergen, I boarded a domestic flight to Oslo. I took a seat in the 7th or 8th row from the front and waited for it to take off. The flight was very crowded, but there were none in the first three rows from the front, making me wonder why these rows had no passengers. Just a few minutes before the takeoff, two passengers suddenly boarded the plane and took seats in the second row. Shortly after that, the plane took off without passengers other than the two in the first three rows. After the flight took off, it had a relaxed atmosphere as usual, but I felt something strange that I had never experienced on this route. The cabin crew were not as usual, either. When they served drinks to the two in the second row, they looked very nervous, making me wonder who they were. Immediately after the flight landed in Oslo and opened the door, the two passengers got off the plane. Then, the other passengers began to talk to each other in excited tones, and I knew that they were Norwegian Royal Family members.

　日本では、皇室の方々が外出される際は、いつも厳重な警護体制が敷かれます。警備が厳重過ぎて、いつも近寄りがたい雰囲気があります。
でも、国が変わると警備も変わるようです。ノルウェーで、王室メンバーに警護がついてない場面に出くわしたことがあります。ボクがノルウェーのベルゲンで商談を終えて、首都のオスロに向かう国内線に搭乗した時のことです。ボクのシートは、最前列から7列目または8列目くらいでした。この便はほぼ満席だったのですが、前から3列にはだれもいませんでした。不思議に思っていたら、離陸直前に、突然、二人の乗客が乗り込んで来て、その列のシートに座りました。その数列の残りのシートには空席のまま、飛行機はオスロに向かって離陸しました。離陸後の機内の雰囲気は、いつもと大して変わらないのですが、いつもにない空気感がありました。客室乗務員もいつも通りではありませんでした。前列の二人にドリンクを提供する時は、緊張した雰囲気でした。ボクは、飛行中ずっと、あの二人はいったい何者なのだろうと思っていました。そして、飛行機はオスロに着陸し、ドアーがあいた途端、前列にいた二人が飛行機を降りてゆきました。その直後、他の乗客が互いに興奮した様子で話しかけ始めました。そして、この二人が王室メンバーだったことに気付きました。
