Ashtanga Yoga Etiquette Part 1 (How to Practice When You meet the teacher for the first time)

” We always practice the primary series (series 1) when we see the teacher first time. ”

Ashtanga Yoga has 6 sequences (order and shape) from 1 to 6.
Naturally, we start practicing from the first, and gradually moving on to the next series, taking years of practice.

We always practice the primary series (first series) with the teacher who you see the first time or haven’t seen for a long.
This is the case when the student is practicing already the second series and the third series.

First of all, you show your basic routine so that the teacher understand your practice and condition and then your teacher knowns you.
Let the teacher know where you are today and the teacher provide guidance from there.
It is a very natural flow.

Then, the second and the third series practice occurs over the rest two sessions. This is the basic practice flow.

For example, if you are practicing up to the third series and can only participate in the Mysore class for two days, or if you have known the teacher for many years and there is not so long period since you saw the teacher last time, you may practice the second on the first day and the third on the second day.
I think it is better to consult the teacher about the best plan.

But always, the basic is from the primary series.
The basics are important in everything, and it is the same in yoga.

It's very natural and normal for each other to share better instruction.

And it's not so much manners as courtesy.
First of all, we show and convey the basic practice and ourselves and we have the teacher know us.
This comprehends our intention, being obedient and thanks in advance.
It is respect to the teacher.

Manners are also courtesy that shows humility and respect.
We learn courtesy and respect from each of these in yoga practice.

Ashtanga yoga and respect can't be separated.
Ashtanga yoga is with respect and we execute that in yoga practice.
