After graduating from university, I started working at a foreign bank in Japan. I worked in trade finance operations for about 2.5 years. In my third year, I moved to the Singapore branch of the same bank. I've been in Singapore for the last 1.5 years. I wanted to work overseas so I said to my manager that I would like to either move to the Securities division or move overseas or I would quit. It was half a threat. My manager was really supportive and did what she could to get me a position in the Trade Finance Headquarters in Singapore. So I bought myself a one-way ticket to Singapore. While my manager hopes I will return to Tokyo someday I am really enjoying my current role in Singapore.
Trade Finance (bank guarantee) is one of the financial products offered by the bank. It's a field where there's constant demand for talent. It's an area which is important to many trading and manufacturing companies so I'm working hard on polishing my skills and accumulating
experienced.
