Shadow in the sun

The flood of news fuels our anxiety, making it impossible for us to stop thinking about when the next earthquake will happen, how big the next disaster will be, and where it will actually occur. I think these thoughts are a part of the fear of unknown; what is vague scares us, like a place covered in darkness frightens us, fueling our negative imagination. When I feel a fear of something, listening to music soothes my nerves and brings me a good sleep. There is nothing scarier than silence in the dark.

By the way, this lyric keeps going around in my head: ‘I’m a shadow in the sun with no place to hide ~ ♪’ Hmm, I wonder what it implies… Does the sun have a shadow? but the sun is a source of light… The sun itself creates a shadow on other things, giving them an aspect of a shadow. I think, he is at a loss despite the brightness, as if there is no place for him. I might relate to his feeling; for me, seeing a shadow or sensing tragedy in someone makes them even more fascinating, almost like a kind of sympathy. When surrounded by bright, cheerful people, I would feel lost and want to escape to somewhere, far away from there.
