Hello everyone, welcome to today’s episode of my podcast! This podcast is about my daily life in Brisbane, Australia as a native Japanese-speaking learner of English.  This podcast is bilingual, using both English and Japanese.

皆様こんにちは  今日も聞いてくださってありがとうございます。この Podcast はオーストラリア　ブリスベンに住んでいる私が「ねぇ聞いて。こんなことがあったの」という出来事を英語 日本語の両方使って話す Voice logをお届けする ポッドキャストです。

As I am still learning English which is my second language, so please excuse my errors and feel free to correct my English or be kind to my English with errors. I hope my English is understandable to all of you!

Today, I want to talk about my desire to start a picture book club.

今日は、絵本の ブッククラブをやってみたいなーと言う話をさせていただきます

First of all, I'd like to explain what a book club is. A book club is a discussion circle where participants talk about a book they have read. The discussion topic sometimes relates directly to the book and other times, it goes beyond the book's contents.

まず、ブッククラブについてお話しさせていただきます。
ブッククラブと言うのは本について語るグループですね。
そこで自分たちが読んだ本について話し合ったりするんですよ。
話し合うトピックについては、直接本に関係していることだったり、そこから派生したトピックだったりとかいろいろあります。

The participants had to read the same book, and then gather at a venue to discuss it. The questions for the discussion might include: "If you were the main character of the book, what would you do?" or "Do you agree with the main character's decision?" If the book is a romance, a discussion question might be "Which person would be the best for the relationship?" and so on.

ブッククラブに参加する人は 基本的に、同じ本を読みます。
そして、どこか場所に集まって、本について語るって言う感じですかね。
どんなことを語るかを具体的に説明すると、
「あなたがこの本の主人公だったら、どうしますか?」とか
「この主人公がしたことに賛成できます?」とかですね。
恋愛系の本だったら、
「 出てきたキャラクターの中で、誰が1番いいと思います?」とかですかね。

What I also like is that people host book clubs not only in libraries but also in pubs, on the internet, and literally anywhere.

図書館とかだけじゃなくて、居酒屋だったりとか、(オーストラリアだとパブ)とかインターネットとかブッククラブできていいなと思ってるんですよね

Some of you might know that I'm kind of a bookworm, especially when it comes to English picture books. Reading a hardcover might be overwhelming, so the length of a picture book is reasonable for second-language learners.

ご存知の方もいらっしゃるかと思うのですが、私、結構本を読むんですよ。特に英語の絵本を読むんですね。
これは、英語のちゃんとしたの本（ハードカバー）だと 読むのに時間がかかるし、読む行為自体が疲れる時があるからです。
（できることからコツコツやるタイプ）

While picture books are generally for children, as mentioned in a previous episode, current themes in picture books are also tending towards adult audiences. I assume they target parents as well.

絵本は基本的にお子さん向けのこと多いんです。
でも、前のエピソードでお話したんですが、最近の絵本で大人向けに作られているなというものもあります。
多分これターゲットが親御さんも含まれてるんだと思います。

Lately, I've felt that doing a book club for picture books could be enjoyable. Also, if we could do it online, we could share the enjoyment of these picture books.

そんなわけで、絵本のブッククラブやったら楽しいかなぁなんて思ったんです。オ
ンラインとかでできたらこの絵本面白いよねとか話せていいかなと思って。

Practically speaking, it might be best to start the book club through Zoom or a similar platform. The people who are interested in English picture books might have children, so they might be busy in general.  I would read the book I've chosen, and then we could discuss it or share thoughts online, which might be fun.

現実的に考えると、Zoomとかでブッククラブを始めるのが良いかなと思ってます。
英語の絵本に興味がある人で(日本人だと特に)お子さんをお持ちの方が多いかなぁと思うので、基本みんな忙しいですよね。
まぁそこで、私が選んだ本を読んで (その場で読むのもいいかなぁ)でその本について語っていくっていうのも面白いかなぁって思ってます

I'm not sure if anyone would be interested, but I just wanted to share the idea.

興味ある方がいるかわからないんですが、最近こういうことをしてみたいなって思うことをお話ししてみました

To summarise today's talk, I discussed mainly three points:
1：A brief explanation of the concept of a book club.
2：My interest in starting a picture book club.
3：The details of my ideas for the book club. 

そんなわけで、今日は3つの事についてお話ししました。
1ブッククラブについての説明
2 絵本のブッククラブやりたいなぁという話
3 こんな感じで進めたら楽しいかなぁという話の3つでした。
