エッセイ Population decline in Japan.

お題 What can we do to solve population decline in Japan?

以下エッセイ

In today's society, we cannot ignore the fact that population decline in Japan has been putting significant strain on the workforce, healthcare systems, and pension funds.
Some of the strategies that have the potential for the solution of population decline in Japan will be discussed in this following essay.

One potential solution is to welcome more immigrants to Japan. Japan has historically been obsessed with homogenous society, leading to situation in which few foreigners have resided in the country. With the graying population and low birth rate, however, it is unavoidable for Japan to reassess its stance on immigration.
The integration of more skilled foreign workers into Japanese society could possibly boost its work productivity and mitigate some of the workforce shortages. Furthermore, attracting immigrants to Japanese community enables us to expand our horizons and inspires us to learn other countries' cultures and languages, thus making Japan cosmopolitan society.

Another strategy is to make an environment in which Japanese couples are encouraged to have children. In recent times, many youngsters in Japan are reluctant to have children due to circumstances under which wage growth has stagnated and their ideas or attitudes towards creating families have transformed significantly over the last decade. In order to retrofit this situation, the government's comprehensive measures must be indispensable. For instance, it should be imperative that the government offer financial aid to families who have children, including subsidies for childcare expenses and maternity leave. This governmental effort serves as one of the cornerstones for fostering family-friendly environment, thereby resulting in partially alleviating the impacts of low birthrate.

Additionally, it is important to note the role of women in the workforce. The notion that female workers face insurmountable barriers to access to affordable childcare and flexible work schedules has become a thing of the past in modern days. The implementation of policies that support women in the workforce like increased chances to career advancement, more options for flexible work arrangements and equal remuneration for work can be a contributing factor in encouraging more women to have children and prospering the country's economy.

In conclusion, although population decline in Japan must be one of the gravest social problems, there are many potential solutions to this demographic issue. Unless the government and companies make strenuous efforts to solve population decline, Japan will be a country that lags far behind other nations in terms of economy, national resilience and globalization.
