リスボン - Lisboa (1) 美食の街

イースター休暇の後半、家族でポルトガルを訪れました。着地の眺めは、オレンジ屋根に白い壁の低層住宅が緑の間に広がっていて、おっとりした南欧の雰囲気です。

到着は夕方だったので、空港からタクシーで20分くらいのアパートに荷物をおいてすぐ、宿のオーナーにおすすめしてもらった「あまり高級すぎない、地元のものが食べられるお店」に行きました。

ウィンドウに並ぶ大きなエビやカニを見るだけで嬉しくなる。予約取ってないお店ですが、店内広いので飛び込みでいけます。ハンマーで叩き割りながら食べるでっかい蟹（昔、サンフランシスコで食べたのに似てる、殻が固くて濃い味の肉がみっちりつまったやつ）、パクチーとにんにくの効いた蒸しアサリ、そして噛みごたえの良い豚耳サラダ（沖縄のミミガーを分厚く切ったかんじ）、どれも美味しかったです。

サービスのガーリックブレッド（おかわり自由）に飲み物とデザートも付けて大満足だったけど、値段は「これくらいかな？」と予想していた金額の半分ですみました。ロンドンに比べると格安。

店を出たらすでに８時だったけど、せっかくなので少し散歩しました。

タイルの壁の建物がたくさんあります。ごちゃごちゃしてるのに街全体としてスッキリ感がある理由は、優しめの色調のせいかな。

坂道、細い道、石畳のまんなかにトラムの線路が走っています。

トラムはいつ見ても観光客でぎゅうぎゅうなので乗る気になりません。広告の銘菓は、Nata（エッグタルト）、リスボンの街のカフェはどこでもたいてい売ってます。

20分くらい先の展望台に狙いを定め、街を眺めながらぶらぶら歩きました。細い路地が続きますが、特に危険な場所はありません。パリやロンドンより治安が良いね、多分。

展望台からはリスボンの街を見下ろせました。夕映えを楽しむ観光客がいっぱいいました。

　

アパートへ戻る道すがら、サン・ジョルジェ城（正面奥）と教会の鐘楼（左手前）がきれいに見えました。お城の庭園は眺めが良く孔雀もいるらしいのです。この日の到着が早かったなら、行きたかった。

そんなこんなでアパートに戻る頃にはすっかり日が暮れていましたが、だいだい色の街灯が古い石畳を照らして、映画に出てくるヨーロッパの夜だぁーって嬉しくなりました。ロンドンにはリスボンが好きって言う人が人多いんだけど、わかったよ。暖かいし、なんでも美味しいし、ゆるい感じ。既に好き。

Our family trip during the Easter break is to Lisbon, Portugal. From the aeroplane, we saw orange-roofed houses with white walls nestled among greens. Oh, it is southern Europe.

It was already evening, so we took a 20-minute taxi from the airport, dropped our suitcase, and headed directly to a nearby restaurant recommended by the apartment's owner, Marisqueira, "where you can eat local good foods but not too fancy".

Just looking at the giant shrimp and crabs lined up in the window was already exciting. The restaurant does not take reservations but is spacious enough for a walk-in.

• Pig ear salad, is like a thicker version that the Japanese are familiar with as "MIMIGAH" in the Okinawa area.

Everything was delicious.

We were delighted with the complimentary garlic bread (refills free), drinks, and dessert, but the price was less than half what we expected. It felt considerably cheaper compared to eating out in London.

When we left the restaurant, it was already 8 p.m., but we decided to take a short walk to a nearby landmark.

We saw tiled buildings, cobblestone streets, and narrow hills with tram tracks. I wanted to avoid getting in there, but I liked to look at trams packed with tourists. They are promoting Egg Talts (Nata), the local speciality of Lisbon.

We walked for about 20 minutes, aiming for a viewpoint. There were many narrow alleys, but we found no dangerous areas. Paris felt more sketchy with some of the strange people around.

From the destination, Miradouro das Portas do Sol, we can overlook the city of Lisbon. Many other tourists enjoyed the sunset; a peaceful atmosphere filled the air.

On the way back to the apartment, we had a beautiful view of São Jorge Castle. The castle garden is said to have many peacocks. I wish we had arrived earlier that day to pay a visit.

When we got back to the apartment, it was completely dark. The orange streetlights illuminated the old cobblestones, reminding me of scenes from European movies. It makes sense why so many people in London go to Lisbon for vacations. I already love this laid-back city.
