【昔話】美しい髪

その昔、たいそう美しい髪の女がおりました。
流れるごとく滑らかな黒髪だったそうです。

「そなたの髪は天の川より美しい！」
などと人々は褒めそやすのでした。

ところが、この女は若くして亡くなりました。

その長く美しい髪をみずから切り　
それを結んでつないで首を吊ったのでした。

坊主頭のまま女の亡骸は埋葬されました。

残された美しい髪は　
子孫の方々によって引き継がれ　
今でもどこかに大切に保管されているそうです。

伝わっているお話はこれだけです。

さて、よくわからないのですが
本当のところ、この女は美しかったのでありましょうか。
