【怪談】花嫁人形

ある村に、人形が大好きで　
人形遊びばかりしている女の子がいた。

人形のように愛らしい子だったが　
あまりに人形と親しみすぎたためか　
とうとう本物の人形になってしまった。

両親の悲しみはいうまでもない。

死んだわけでもないので葬式はあげられず　
生きているわけでもないので嫁にもやれず　
しかたなく床の間に飾っておくのだった。

ある日、噂を耳にした町の長者が　
この人形を見るために村にやってきた。

「これはこれは、なんともかわいらしい」
町の長者は目を細めた。

「この人形、わしにくれ。なっ、頼む」
「申しわけないけど、うちの娘なので････」

「わかっておる。いくらでも金は出す」
「そう言われても････」

「よし。わしの花嫁として迎えよう」

断ってしまいたいが、貧乏暮らし。
結局、長者の嫁に差し出すことになった。

嫁といっても、長者には本妻がいるので　
妾ということになるが、仕方ない。

神主を呼び、ささやかながら宴も張り　
長者は花嫁として人形を手に入れた。

さて、長者には息子がひとりいた。
かなりの放蕩者で、父とは仲が悪かった。

この若者が久しぶりに家に帰った途端　
父の花嫁人形に一目惚れしてしまった。

「父上、この人形を私にください」
「なにをいう。これはわしの妾だぞ」

「父上、恥ずかしくはないのですか」
「なに。おまえこそ、この恥知らずが！」

その夜、長者父子は大喧嘩を始めた。

これを止めに入った本妻も巻き込み　
障子は破れ、襖は折れ、悲鳴はあがり　
もう大変なことになってしまった。

翌朝、花嫁人形は消えていた。

家の使用人たちが捜しまわったが　
どうしても見つからなかった。

さらに、長者父子と奥方の姿も消えていた。

ただ、見知らぬ女の子がひとり　
座敷で楽しそうに人形遊びをしていたという。

「うふふ。一緒に朝ごはん、食べましょうね」

Bride Doll
