【ミステリー】余計なお世話

市立図書館から借りた推理小説を読んでいたら　
その本の途中にボールペンで書き込みがあった。

ある登場人物の名前を四角く囲み、下手糞な字で　
[ こいつが犯人 ]

世の中には親切な人がいるものだ。
ぜひとも、厚くお礼を申さねばなるまい。

というわけで、これを書き込んだ奴が誰なのか　
犯人捜しをすることにしたのだ。

まず、人物分析。

どう考えても、いやな奴であることは確信できる。
こいつと共同生活だけはしたくない。

マナーは守らず、自分勝手で、近所迷惑な嫌われ者。
自転車泥棒や万引きくらい、平気でやりそうだ。

この推理小説を読み終えたくらいだから　
それほど知能が低いわけではあるまい。

しかし、この字の下手糞さ加減からすると　
先天的にだらしない感じはする。

詳細な筆跡鑑定もしてみる。

筆圧やペンの流れからのタイプ分類。
どうやら犯人は左利きで、男性である可能性が高い。

その他、この推理小説の内容、作家の傾向なども考慮。

年齢や家族構成、学校または職業の範囲など　
とりあえずの大まかな仮説的人物像を割り出す。

友人の知り合いの自称ハッカー君を崇め奉り　
市立図書館の登録データ、貸し出し情報を不正入手。

近所の小学生をそそのかし、少年探偵団を結成。
容疑者たちの張り込み、聞き取り調査。

その他、なんだかんだ半年近くも手間取ったが　
ほぼ犯人を特定することに成功した。

ただし、限りなく黒に近い容疑者がふたり。

どちらが犯人であっても不思議ない。
どちらが犯人だとしても納得できてしまう。

悩んだ末、ふたりの容疑者のどちらにも　
匿名の手紙を送ることにした。

宛先の本人の名前をパソコンとプリンターで印刷し　
その活字をボールペンで四角く囲み、下手糞な字で

[ おまえが犯人 ]
これだけ。

それにしても、まさか　
あんな結果になるとは思いもしなかった。

ひとりの容疑者は　
ある強盗傷害事件の真犯人として自首。

もうひとりの容疑者は　
なんと自殺してしまったのだ。
