【昔話】水の子

ある山奥にひっそりと小さな村があった。

その村をかすめるように　
一本の細い谷川が流れていた。

ある年の春、谷川のほとりに娘がいた。

村の者ではなかった。
戦火の都から逃れてきたのだった。

娘は長老の家に世話になることになった。
娘は働き者だった。

この年の夏、まったく雨が降らなかった。

そのため、谷川の水は涸れてしまい　
わずかばかりの田畑は干からびてしまった。

村人の暮らしは苦しくなった。

「あの娘がいるからだ」
「そうだ。よそ者は出てゆけ！」

毎日いじめられ、娘はいたたまれなくなった。

ある晩、娘はこっそり村を出た。
干上がった谷川の底を泣きながら下った。

翌朝、待ちに待った雨がついに降った。
谷川の底に水が流れ始めた。

「やっぱり、あの娘のせいだったな」
村人たちの喜びは大変なものであった。

雨は降り続いた。
谷川に水も増え続けた。

いつまでも休みなく雨は降り続いた。

そして、その年の秋
この小さな村は　

谷川からあふれ出た水に　
跡形もなく押し流されてしまった。
　

Water Girl

There was a small village like being hidden in the mountains.
There was a thin river flowing like to harvest the village.

In the spring of a year, there was a girl beside the river.

She was not from this village.
She ran away from the city of war.

The girl was taken care of by the house of a senior member.
The girl was a hard worker.

In the summer of this year, it did not rain at all.

Therefore, the river's water was dry,
and the field, which has only a few, got dry.

The lives of the villagers became painful.

"Because that girl is there."
"Yes, outsiders go out!"

Bullied everyday, the girl is no longer able to stay.

One night the girl slipped secretly out of the village.
She fell as she cried, at the bottom of the dried river.

The next morning, the rain waited for a long time finally fell.
Water began to flow to the bottom of the river.

"After all, that girl was the fault."
The pleasure of the villagers was serious.

The rain has continued.
Water continued to increase in the river.

Rain kept running without ever having a break.

And in the autumn of this year,
this little village was swept away without trace
in the water overflowing from the river.
