アンニカの手紙
しんあいなるベッキー。きのうはあんなことを言ってしまってごめんなさい。でもこのことは知っていて。教会のドアノブ、とてもすてきよ。わたし、おばあちゃんが言ったことをわたしが言ったようにはなしただけなの。そしてお母さんに聞いたら、おばあちゃんは、あんまりドアノブがピカピカでおどろいて言ってしまったそうです。お母さんに、としよりはへんかについていけないからゆるしてと言っているそうです。ドアノブは、今はピカピカだけど、たくさんの人にさわられて、とてもいい色になるそうです。ベッキー、わたし、ほんとうにドアノブとてもすてきだと思っています。
どうかゆるしてください。いっぱいのキスを。

Annika’s letter
To my dearest Becky,
I’m sorry about what I said the other day. But please know that the church’s doorknob is wonderful. I was just repeating what my grandma said. And my mother told me that my grandma was just surprised that the doorknob was so shiny. Mother says that old people can’t keep up with change, so please forgive her. The doorknob is shiny right now, but it will have a calmer color after lots of people touch it, she said. Becky, I really do think the doorknob is wonderful.
