【英語日記】子どもたちと本屋へ行ってきました

本日は、英語の勉強も兼ねて子どもたちと本屋へ行ったときの話を英語日記として残してみます。一人では英文作成できないので、英文への翻訳はDeep Lを使用しています。

Visit the bookshop with the children
（子どもたちと本屋へ）

The children will soon be on their summer holiday. My daughter, who is in first grade, has her first book report for her summer homework. Our family went to a nearby bookshop to look for books for her book report.

もうすぐ子どもたちは夏休み。
小学1年の娘は、夏休みの宿題で初めての読書感想文があります。
私たち家族は、娘の読書感想文のための本を探すために近くにある本屋に行ってきました。

My daughter read and compared different books and, after much deliberation, she found a book about a cute dog story and decided to buy it.

娘は、いろんな本を読み比べて、悩んだ末にかわいい犬の物語の本を見つけて購入することに。

Meanwhile, I wandered around and strolled through the bookshop with my son, who is in the fourth grade. My son likes to read, and while looking at novels and other books that had been introduced on TikTok, he told me that these looked interesting.

一方、私は小学4年の息子と、ウロウロと本屋を散策。息子は読書が好きで、TikTokで紹介されていた小説など見ながら「これが面白そう」と私に話してくれました。

Then I noticed a book with an attractive cover.

そんなとき私は、魅力的な表紙の一冊の本が気になりました。

The book is called God is Dead by Ron Currie Jr. On the book's cover was an intriguing statement.

その本はロン・カリー・ジュニアの『神は死んだ』という本です。
本の帯には、興味のそそる文章が書かれていました。

"An interview with a dog whose intelligence is highly developed because he ate 'God's flesh'"? Sounds very interesting!

『「神の肉」を食べたために、知性が高度に発達した犬へのインタビュー』ってなに？とても面白そう！

I immediately picked up the book and flicked through the pages, apparently it had been translated in 2013. But I hadn't heard of the book for over a decade.

私はすぐにその本を手に取りパラパラとページをめくると、どうやら2013年に翻訳されていたよう。しかし私は、10年以上この本の存在を知りませんでした。

I love bookshops because I meet new people that don't show up in online recommendations.

ネットのおすすめでは出てこない、新たな出会いがあるから本屋が大好き。

I thought, "I want it!" but I had to leave the bookshop because my daughter had finished buying the book and I wasn't here today to buy a book for myself.

「欲しい！」と思いましたが、娘も本の購入が終わったし、今日は自分用に本を買いに来たわけでもないので本屋から出ることに。

As soon as we left the bookshop, my son said, "I still want the book I saw earlier", so we went back to the bookshop.

本屋を後にしてすぐ、息子が「さっき見た本がやっぱり欲しい」と言い出し、本屋に戻りました。

I decided to go back with him, saying that I also wanted it.

私も「やっぱり欲しい」と一緒に戻ることに。笑

Excited, my son and I bought the book together.

ウキウキして、息子と二人で本を購入。

This summer holiday, let's read with our children.

この夏休みは、子どもたちと一緒に読書といきましょう。
