”Z”は、かつて怪傑ゾロのトレードマークだったが、今は邪悪の象徴にすり替わった
子どものころ、テレビで「怪傑ゾロ」を見た。その後、１９９８年には映画にもなった。ご存じでない人のために、ウィキペディアの解説を引用する。
メキシコがまだスペイン領だったころ、その辺境カピストラノ地方で活躍する仮面の剣士ゾロは、強きをくじき弱きを助く、大盗賊にして真の紳士。賞金首のお尋ね者でもある反面、虐げられたインディオを助け、フェアに1対1の決闘に臨むなど、まさに正義の味方だった。彼が現れた後には、壁にサーベルでZの字が彫られ、これが彼のトレードマークであった。

Zには自分以外の人間が戦うのなら応援する、というニュアンスもあるようだ。
ひょっとして、ロシア政府は、自分たちこそ正義の味方であると、Zというマークを使って国内で宣伝しているのだろうか。そのプロパガンダは、ロシア国内では成功しているようだ。
日本でも、お調子者が早速、「Z」の落書きをした。
江ノ電長谷駅（鎌倉市長谷２丁目）とその周辺に白色スプレーのようなもので「Ｚ」の文字が落書きされていることが７日、鎌倉署への取材で分かった。
概ね１９９０年代中盤から２０１０年代序盤までに生まれた世代のことを、Ｚ世代と呼ぶらしい。落書きした連中もひょっとしたらZ世代か？
ところで、Z世代の次はどうなるかというと、この記事によると２０１３年以降に生まれた世代はα世代だという。アメリカでそのような世代分類の概念が作られて、企業のマーケティングに活用されているらしい。
