ヨーロッパ中世末期の贖宥状というもの
高校時代、世界史の授業を受けたが、印象に残っていることは、多くない。せいぜい５世紀のヨーロッパで、フン族のアッティラ王が、あっちだ、あっちだと領土を拡大していった、など、他愛のない話しか覚えていない。
神保町の三省堂書店が建て替えのため、一時閉店する前に、何冊か高校の教科書を買った。その中から一冊を気分で選んで、読むことがある。試験がないから、読む気が起きる。大人になって最もいいことの一つは、受けたくない試験をあまり受けなくてすむことだと思う。
今、手元に山川出版社の『新世界史B』を開いている。
中世末期（１４，１５世紀）は、戦争や反乱、略奪や暴動、ペスト禍や飢饉により、社会不安が増大した時代でもあった。新約聖書の「ヨハネ黙示録」の記述に符合するこれらの予兆を前に、終末の接近を告げる預言が巷に流布し、人々は最後の審判にそなえた。死後の魂を浄める場として煉獄の観念が定着すると、煉獄で受ける罰を軽減しようと、人々は寄進・布施など教会への善行を競っておこない、イェルサレムやローマ、サンティアゴ＝デ＝コンポステラなどの聖地に巡礼に赴いたり、教皇が出す贖宥状（免罪符）を買い求めた。
今と共通する部分が多い。戦争や略奪と言えばロシアの侵略行為を、反乱と言えば、ミャンマーの軍事クーデターを、暴動と言えば、アメリカの国会議事堂占拠を思い浮かべる。そしてペスト禍は、今では何に該当するか、それは言うまでもない。
私が学生時代に習った免罪符は、今の教科書では贖宥状（しょくゆうじょう）と表記されている。この漢字の字画が多くて、私は書けない。この点で、今の高校生を少し気の毒に思う。贖宥状とは、中世のカトリック教で、宗教上の罪のゆるしが得られたしるしとして、信者に与えた札である（『現代新国語辞典』、三省堂、２０１９年）。
ウィキペディアによると、贖宥状は元々、イスラームから聖地を回復するための十字軍に従軍したものに対して贖宥を行ったことから始まった。従軍できない者は寄進を行うことでこれに代えたという。
つまり、中世においてキリスト教徒は、異教徒と戦うか、寄付をするかしたら、罪が許された、ということだ。
その後、１６世紀初めに教皇レオ１０世がサン＝ピエトロ大聖堂を改築するために、贖宥状を売り出したことに対して、神学者のルターが異議を唱えたことが宗教改革のきっかけになった。改革というぐらいだから大変な騒動になったが、ここでは触れない。
歴史を暗記しろと言われると気持ちが萎えるが、このように何が起きたのかを知ることは楽しい。しかし、ここから書くことは喜べない。
あの統一教会（旧称）もキリスト教を源流とする、と自称している。かつての統一教会の正式名称は、世界基督教統一神霊協会（Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity）であった。
その統一教会が、世界平和統一家庭連合（Family Federation for World Peace and Unification）という名前に変わって存続していることは、あの事件が起きるまで知らなかった。
でもやっていることは以前と変わらない。
心の弱った人を脅迫して金をふんだくる。
単純明快である。
だが、詐欺として摘発されていない。
あくまで自発的に献金した、というように見せかけるテクニックは、この記事で取り上げた特殊詐欺より洗練されているからだろう。
統一教会は、いくら儲けているのだろうか？
海外から見ると、「統⼀教会にとって⽇本は⼤事な“⾦づる”」だそうだ。

日本を馬鹿にすることを宗旨にする宗教を、なぜ日本の有力な政治家が支持したのか、まったく理解できない。彼らこそ自虐嗜好者なのではないだろうか。

そして、統一教会はなぜ新しい名前の中に家庭という言葉を入れたのか。ウィキペディアによると、統一教会は、社会における家族の重要性を強調しており、１９９４年に世界平和統一家庭連合に変更したという。
２０２３年から設けられる予定のこども家庭庁は、当初こども庁という名称だった。この記事によると、保守派と言われる政治家が家庭という言葉を入れるよう主張したという。さらにウィキペディアによると、統一教会の息のかかった連中が、つながりのある政治家に、そのような要請をしたという。もしそれが事実なら、内政干渉である。
ここ数年間、韓国政府と日本政府の間の関係は最悪だったのに、なぜ韓国発祥の宗教団体と一部の政治家の関係は良好だったのだろうか？

Indulgence in the late Middle Ages in Europe.
When I was in high school, I took a world history class, but not much of it left an impression on me. At best, I only remember some trivial stories such as about King Attila of the Huns expanding his territory in 5th century Europe, going from one place to another.
Before the Sanseido bookstore in Jimbocho temporarily closed for reconstruction, I bought some high school textbooks. I sometimes choose one of them to read when the mood strikes me. I don't have exams, so I feel like reading. One of the best things about being an adult is that I don't have to take many exams that I don't want to take.

The late Middle Ages (14th and 15th centuries) were a time of increasing social unrest due to wars, rebellions, looting, riots, plague, and famine. Prophecies of the approaching apocalypse were circulating, and people prepared for the final judgment. As the idea of purgatory as a place of purification for the soul after death took root, people competed to do good deeds for the church, such as donating money to the church, going on pilgrimages to holy places such as Jerusalem, Rome, and Santiago de Compostela, and buying letters of atonement issued by the pope in order to alleviate the punishment they would receive in purgatory.
There are many things in common with now. When we think of war and looting, we think of Russia's aggression, when we think of rebellion, we think of Myanmar's military coup, and when we think of riots, we think of the occupation of the US Capitol. And it goes without saying what the plague is now.
The Chinese character "Indulgence" is difficult to write. I feel a little sorry for the current high school students in this regard. The indulgence is a medieval Catholic religion that was given to believers as a sign that religious sins were forgiven ("Contemporary New Language Dictionary", Sanseido, 2019).
According to Wikipedia, the first indulgence was for those who served in the Crusades to restore the sanctuary from Islam. Those who cannot serve are said to have replaced this by making donations.
In other words, in the Middle Ages, Christians were forgiven of their sins if they fought or donated to heathens.
Later, theologian Luther argued that Pope Leo X offered an indulgence to rebuild St. Peter's Basilica in the early 16th century. That triggered religious reform. It was a great uproar because it was so called "reform," but I won't go into that here.
It makes me sick when asked to memorize history, but it's fun to know what happened like this. However, I am not happy to write from here.
That Unification Church (formerly known as) also claims to have its origins in Christianity. The official name of the former Unification Church was the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity.
I didn't know until the incident that the Unification Church survived under the name Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. But what they are doing is the same as before. They threaten the weak and pour money. It's simple and clear. However, it has not been caught as a fraud. From the foreign point of view, Japan is a great source of money for the Unification Church.

The Children's and Family Affairs Agency, which is scheduled to be established from 2023, was originally named the Children's Agency. According to this article, conservative politicians insisted on including the word home.
Furthermore, according to Wikipedia, a group of people with the Unification Church's influence made such a request to politicians with whom they had connections.

Why has the relationship between Korean-origin religious groups and some politicians been good when the relationship between the Korean and Japanese governments has been the worst in the last few years?
