僕が自身の創作活動を始めた2000年頃はAdobe Illustratorで作品をつくっていました。
Rainbow line & Black shadow のシリーズなんかがそうです。

ベジェ曲線で描かれた作品は大きく拡大してもラインの美しさをそのまま保てます。
当時、そんな解像度から開放される様な感覚が好きでした。
鉛筆で描いた下絵をスキャンしてマウスでカチカチとアンカーポイントを打ってトレースしてラインを整えるとい制作スタイルです。

僕の作業はデザイン業務もアート制作もそんなに重たい作業ではないので、ずっとノートパソコン派です。今はMacBookProの2018年モデルをメインで、2013年モデルをサブ機として使っています。

2019年にはiPad Proをアート制作に導入しました。
これまでもWacomのペンタブは何度か使ってみましたがあまり僕にはマッチしませんでした。

iPad Proでは今の所Procreateというアプリで作品を描いています。
これまでA2サイズ想定の作品を数点作りました。
大きなサイズだと使えるレイヤー数が10位になってしまいますが選択範囲の保存などを上手く活用したりして問題なくやれています。
iPad Proは作業スペースがあまり取れない環境でも作業が進められるのでとても重宝しています。

2010年から10年位アナログでの制作をメインにアクリルガッシュで絵を描いてきました。
アナログでの制作にはその良さは沢山あり、鉛筆や絵の具でしか出せない表現やひらめきもあります。
ただ、しばらく離れている間にiPad Proをはじめデジタルツールも凄く使いやすくなり、筆や絵の具などと同じく画材だと捉えるようになりました。

今はアナログ、デジタルあまりこだわらず表現したい内容とその時々の状況に合った方法をチョイスして制作したいと考えています。

When I started my creative activities in 2000, I used Adobe Illustrator to create my artworks.
"Rainbow line & Black shadow series" is a good example.

The beauty of the lines in Bezier curved lines can be preserved even when the image is enlarged.
At the time, I liked the feeling of being freed from such resolution.
I would scan in a pencil sketch, and use the mouse to trace and adjust the lines to created my artworks.

I've always been a laptop person.
That's because the my work isn't that heavy, either in design work or art production.
I'm currently using a MacBookPro 2018 model as my main computer and a 2013 model as a sub-machine.

In 2019, I introduced the iPad Pro into our art creation.
I've used Wacom pen tabs several times before, but they didn't match me very well.

I've been using the Procreate app on my iPad Pro for a while now.
I've created a few A2 size artworks so far.
The number of layers I can use is about 10 for larger sizes, but I have been able to do it without any problems by making good use of saving selections.
The iPad Pro is very useful because it allows me to work in environments where I don't have much space to work.

For about 10 years since 2010, I've been working mainly in analog, using acrylic gouache.
There are many good things about analog creation. For example, there are expressions and inspirations that can only be created with pencils and paints.
However, I've been away for it a while, the iPad Pro and other digital tools have become much easier to use. So I have come to think of them as art materials, just like brushes and paints.

Now I am not so much concerned about analog or digital, but I want to choose the method that best suits the content I want to express and the situation at the time.

Orecho=オレチョとは？
本多 孝男による複数の作品シリーズをシンボル化、融合することで誕生したキャラクター。
「オレチョ」は作家の自己を投影した表現者として作品に登場している。名前の由来は"己"を"超"えるより。　
　
What is Orecho?
The character was born by symbolizing and fusing multiple series of artworks by Takao Honda.
"Orecho" is appeared in artworks as an expresser who projects himself.
The origin of the name comes from "I want always overcome myself". In Japanese mean Ore=myself, cho=overcome.

自身を成長させる言葉、思考、イメージを主な題材としています。
大切な気持ち、記憶、感覚を忘れないようアート作品を作り続けています。
作品を通して「自己に向き合う大切さ」「迷いを乗り越えるヒント」そして少しの物語性を楽しんでいただければと思っています。
