ホテルへチェックイン
イタリア期間はドイツと状況は変わり、比較的平和に過ごせました。
ドイツでのストライキから脱出に成功した我々は、ローマのバスターミナルに到着しました。
到着時、雨が降っており持ってきたカッパを取り出し移動しました。
逆にカッパを利用したのは、この時だけでしたので天気には恵まれました。
バスでホテルに向かおうとしましたが、バス停の発見に苦労しました。
googleに勧められた場所は、歩道のない場所を歩く必要があることに途中で気付き、バスターミナルに戻りました。
結局、このバスターミナルからホテルまでのバスがあり、雨の中で余計な運動をしてしまいました。
バスと電車とトラムが乗り放題の72時間券を購入しました。
2人で36ユーロ (約5,200円) でした。
この券はタバコ屋で売られており、場所がわからなかったのですが、駅構内の職員が優しく教えてくれました。
ローマにバスは、次に停車する場所しか音声で案内されませんでした。
しかもイタリア語のみの案内で、英語はありませんでした。
GPSで現在地を確認しつつ、耳を澄ませて停留所の名前を聞き取る必要があります。
フェルマータ (イタリア語で停止の意味) というキーワードが聞き取れたので、助けになりました。
音楽の授業の知識が役立つ時もあります。
なんとかホテル「ホテル メトロポリス」まで辿り着きました。
部屋は広くはありませんが、特に不満はありませんでした。
ただ、宿泊税が24ユーロ (約3,500円) と高くて驚きました。
宿泊税を除いた料金は2人で約35,000円でした。
ローマ観光
ピンチョの丘に行きました。
最寄駅の地下を非常に長く歩く必要があったため、本当にあっているのか不安になりました。
なおかつ、ローマの地下鉄は薄暗く、汚く、日本人的には少し不安を覚えます。
駅を出てからも徒歩15分くらい必要でしたので、行くのは想像以上に大変でした。
この苦労から得られたローマ市街を一望は、本当に美しかったです。
イベントか何かで戦闘機が頭上を通り、その迫力も得られました。
スペイン広場に向かう途中のレストラン「Otello alla Concordia」でランチをとりました。
店内も綺麗で味も美味しかったです。
イタリアのご飯は安くて美味しい印象です。
ただ、観光地価格のためパスタとピザで31ユーロ (約3,500円) でした。
スペイン広場に行きました。
テレビで見た観光地に行くとテンションが上がりますね。
模範的な日本人として、まだまだスタンプラリーは続きます。
トレビの泉に行きました。
観光の合間にはコーヒーショップ「La Casa del Caffè Tazza d'Oro」にも立ち寄りました。
その他にもパンテオンやナヴォーナ広場、サンタンジェロ城に行きました。
途中で雹が降ってきたのは驚きましたが、すぐに止みました。
夕食は「Cacio e Pepe」に行きました。
店名でもあるCacio e Pepeは非常に美味しかったです。
ワインやパスタを楽しみました。
全部で40ユーロ (約5,800円) という圧倒的なコスパでした。
4日目
サン・ピエトロ寺院
午前9時半頃にサン・ピエトロ寺院を見学にバチカン市国へ行きました。
無料で見学できるのですが、思ったよりも並ぶので朝早めに行くことをお勧めします。
建造物に沿って1周並んでおり、合計で1時間くらい並びました。
手荷物検査を抜け、サン・ピエトロ大聖堂の扉の前まで進むことができます。
手荷物検査を抜けたところにトイレもあるので、そこで一度行くことを勧めます。
入場者数の規制を行っており、順番が来たら入場が許されます。
中はかなり広く、圧巻でした。
懺悔ルームもたくさんあったので、懺悔し放題です。
展望台にも登ることができるのですが、ここも並んでいました。
残念ながら時間がなくなってしまったので、寺院を後にしました。
地面の所々に白いサークルがありますが、そこから見ると柱が綺麗に見えます。
内側から外側にかけて複数の柱があり、適当な場所から見ると背後にある柱も映り込んでしまいます。
バチカン美術館
バチカン美術館に行きました。
入り口は一度バチカンから外に出て、外壁に沿って進むと存在します。
普通に入ろうとすると非常に長い列に並ぶことになります。
インターネットでチケットを購入していたので、ほぼ待つことなく入場できました。
チケット代は2人で9,854円でした。
写真は入場ゲートと中庭です。
中庭にかすかに見える金色の球は「球体をもった球体」です。
箱根の彫刻の森美術館でも同じ作品を見ましたが、どちらも写真は撮り忘れています。
ランチは中庭にあるレストランカフェに行きました。
全部で36ユーロ (5,231円) でした。
バチカン美術館はとにかく圧巻です。
世界史選択ではない私でも知っている作品があります。
何かわからなくても何かすごい感じがします。
色々とありますが、なんとなく目に止まったのは以下です。
・ラオコーン像
・謎の丸いやつ
・どこかの天井
・タイトルに戴冠が入ってそうな絵
・考える人
・馬
とりわけ圧巻だったのはシスティーナ礼拝堂でした。
10分くらい見上げていたと思います。
撮影禁止でしたので、徳島県の大塚国際美術館 (有名作品のレプリカを多数所蔵) に行った時に撮影した写真を載せておきます。
お土産ショップは至る所にあります。
逆に、まとまった大きいショップはないので、どこで購入しても同じように感じました。
出口は巨大な螺旋状のスロープでした。
非常に広く、途中から流しながら見ていました。
とはいえ、受付時に配布される順路に従って、全エリアを制覇することはできました。
順路を9割くらい消化すると、次の順路よりも出口の方が近くにあり、そこで多くの人が帰られていました。
また、残りの1割がどこにあるのか見つけるのが難しかったです。
警備員に場所を聞きつつ、なんとか辿り着きました。
ほとんどの警備員はスマホゲームに夢中のため、それを止めて道案内をさせたので、機嫌の良い人はいなかったです。
夕食
バチカン近くの「Spaghetti」でパスタを食べました。
かなりカジュアルな店でしたが、普通に美味しかったです。
2人で37ユーロ (5,376円) でした。
食後はバチカン城壁の近くにある「Old Bridge Gelateria」でジェラートを食べました。
トリプルにして2.5ユーロ (363円) というハイコスパです。
1つの味がピスタチオでしたが、とてもピスタチオの味が濃くて美味しかったです。
もう2つの味は忘れました。
イタリアで一番美味しかったのは、この店でした。
5日目
フォロ・ロマーノ
朝一でフォロ・ロマーノに行きました。
コロッセオのチケットを持っていれば無料で入ることができます。
古代ローマという感じで、全体的に1つ1つのスケールが大きい印象でした。
コロッセオのチケットはパラティーノの丘にも無料で行くことができました。
丘というだけあって、坂道や階段を登った印象が強く残っています。
次に真実の口に向かいました。
無料で一緒に写真を撮ることができ、15分くらい待ちました。
我々の前に中国人観光客が団体で来ていたので、タイミングが良ければ待たずに写真撮影できると思います。
真実の口だけでの写真撮影を忘れたので、フリー素材を添付します。
近くにあるジェラート屋「Cerchi Ice Cream」も良かったです。
初めてマリトッツォを食べましたが、美味しかったです。
6.5ユーロ (946円) でした。
コロッセオに行きました。
当日券？で入ろうとすると、1日が終わるレベルで並んでいますので、事前にチケット購入がお勧めです。
しかし、公式サイトからチケットを購入するのも難しいです。
割高なツアー会社経由で購入する人も多いですが、私たちは公式サイトからチケット購入できましたので、Tipsをお届けします。
・早めに予約すること
・1週間前にチケットが改めて払い出されるので、そこを狙う
チケットを係員に見せて、無事にコロッセオの中に入れました。
圧巻の一言でした。
下の踊り場部分まで行くには、ツアーに予約する必要があります。
外から見るのも良かったです。
コロッセオを後にして、昼食に「I MASSARI」へ行きました。
パスタ2つで33ユーロ (4,849円) でした。
観光地でもないので、コスパが悪く感じました。
ホテルから荷物をピックアップしてFiumicino空港へ向かいました。
最寄駅から悪名高いテルミニ駅に行き、そこから空港までのノンストップの特急電車？を利用しました。
イタリア名物のスリを目撃したい人はテルミニ駅に行けば見ることができます。
何度もエスカレータを往復する女性がいました。
発券機の操作を教えるよと動画を撮りながら喋りかけてく人もいました。
反応すると教えたのだからチップを要望されるため、無視します。
我々もスリの物色をされました。
イタリアもエスカレータの左側は止まる人が多く、我々も荷物があったので左側にいました。
女性が右側を歩いて登ってくるのですが、なぜか我々の真横で2回も止まり、通り過ぎ去っていきました。
特急電車のチケットを発券するための機械は、専用の機械を使う必要がありました。
誤った機械で発券を試みていた我々に職員が教えてくれたので、電車に間に合いました。
誰が本当の職員かジプシーなのか疑心暗鬼です。
改札はQRコードで通るシステムでした。
あまりにも時間が逼迫していたため、発券機や電車の写真は撮れていません。
2人で28ユーロ (4,114円) でした。
電車は綺麗かつ快適で、無事に空港に到着しました。
トランザビア航空を利用してパリのオルリー空港に行きました。
トランザビア航空はWebサイトから真っ緑なので、飛行機も緑を期待しましたが、文字だけ緑で残念でした。
2人で128ユーロ (18,562円) でした。

Day 3
Check in to the hotel
The Italian trip was different from the German one and relatively peaceful.
After successfully escaping from the strike in Germany, we arrived at the bus terminal in Rome.
It was raining when we arrived, so we took out our coats and moved.
On the contrary, this was the only time we used the kappa, so we were blessed with good weather.
We tried to take the bus to the hotel, but the location of the bus stop was difficult.
We realized on the way that the route suggested by google required us to walk through an area with no sidewalks, so we returned to the bus terminal.
It was an extra workout in the rain, but there was a bus from this bus terminal to the hotel.
We bought a 72-hour ticket for unlimited bus, train, and tram rides.
It cost 36 euros (about 5,200 JPY) for two people.
These tickets were sold at a tobacconist, and although we did not know where it was, the staff at the station was kind enough to show me.
In Rome, the bus only gave audio directions to the next stop.
Moreover, the information was in Italian only, and no English was available.
You have to check your current location on the GPS and listen carefully to hear the name of the stop.
It helped that we could hear the key word “fermata” (Italian for “stop”).
Sometimes knowledge from music class helps.
We managed to get to the hotel, Hotel Metropolis.
The room was not spacious, but we had no complaints.
However, we was surprised at the high accommodation tax of 24 euros (about 3,500 JPY).
Excluding the hotel tax, the total cost was about 35,000 yen for the two of us.
Sightseeing in Rome
We went to Pincho's Hill.
We had to walk a very long way underground to the nearest station, which made us wonder if we were really there.
Furthermore, the subway in Rome is dimly lit and dirty, which makes me feel a little uneasy from a Japanese point of view.
It took about 15 minutes to get there on foot after exiting the station, so it was more difficult than I had imagined.
The panoramic view of the city of Rome obtained from this hardship was really beautiful.
We was also able to experience the power of a fighter plane passing overhead during an event or something.
We had lunch at Otello alla Concordia, a restaurant on the way to Piazza di Spagna.
The restaurant was clean and tasty.
We have the impression that Italian food is cheap and delicious.
However, it cost us 31 euros (about 3,500 JPY) for pasta and pizza because of the tourist price.
We went to Plaza de España.
We get excited when we go to tourist attractions that we have seen on TV.
As a model Japanese, the stamp rally is still going on.
We went to the Trevi Fountain.
In between sightseeing, we stopped by the coffee shop "La Casa del Caffè Tazza d'Oro".
We also went to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Castel Sant'Angelo.
We were surprised to see hail on the way there, but it soon stopped.
For dinner we went to Cacio e Pepe.
Cacio e Pepe, which is also the name of the restaurant, was very good.
We enjoyed wine and pasta.
The total cost was an impressive 40 euros (about 5,800 JPY).
Day 4
St. Peter's Basilica
We went to Vatican City to visit St. Peter's Basilica around 9:30 am.
It is a free tour, but we recommend going early in the morning because the line is longer than expected.
A line that went around the building, and it took about an hour to get in line.
After passing through the baggage check, you can proceed to the door of St. Peter's Basilica.
There is a restroom just past the baggage check, so we recommend that you go there once.
The number of visitors is regulated and you will be allowed to enter when your turn comes.
The inside was quite spacious and overwhelming.
There were many confession rooms, so you could confess what you wanted.
We can also climb up to the observation deck, but there was a line here as well.
Unfortunately, we ran out of time, so we left the temple.
There are white circles in places on the ground, from which the pillars can be seen beautifully.
There are multiple pillars from the inside to the outside, and when viewed from another location, the pillars behind them are also visible.
Vatican Museums
We went to the Vatican Museums.
The entrance exists once you exit the Vatican and proceed along the outer wall.
You will have to wait in a very long line to purchase tickets on the day of your visit.
Since we had purchased our tickets on the Internet, we were able to enter the museum with almost no wait.
The ticket cost was 9,854 JPY for two people.
The photo shows the entrance gate and the courtyard.
The golden sphere faintly visible in the courtyard is “Sphere with Sphere.
We saw the same work at the Hakone Open-Air Museum, but we forgot to take pictures of both.
For lunch, we went to a restaurant-cafe in the courtyard.
The total cost was 36 euros (5,231 JPY).
The Vatican Museums are just stunning.
Even I, who am not a world history electorate, know some of the works.
Even if I don't know what they are, I feel something amazing.
There are many things, but the following are the ones that somehow caught my eye.
- Laocoon statue
- Mysterious round thing
- A ceiling somewhere
- A painting that looks like it might have a crown in the title
- Thinker
- Horse
The Sistine Chapel was particularly impressive.
I think we looked up at the Sistine Chapel for about 10 minutes.
Photography was not allowed, so I attached a photo I took when I visited the Otsuka Museum of Art in Tokushima Prefecture (which has many replicas of famous works).
Souvenir stores are everywhere.
In other words, there are no large and cohesive stores, so it felt the same no matter where we purchased our items.
The exit was a huge spiral ramp.
It was very large, and we had to shed and look at it from the middle of the tour.
However, we were able to conquer the entire area by following the order given at the registration desk.
When we had digested about 90% of the sequential route, the exit was closer than the next route, and many people were leaving there.
It was also difficult to find where the remaining 10% were.
We managed to get there by asking the guards where it was.
Most of the guards were in a bad mood because I had to interrupt their phone games to guide them.
Dinner
I had pasta at “Spaghetti” near the Vatican.
It was a fairly casual restaurant, but the food was usually good.
It cost 37 euros (5,376 JPY) for two people.
After lunch, we went to “Old Bridge Gelateria” near the Vatican walls and had a gelato.
The price was a cheap 2.5 euros (363 JPY) for a triple.
One of the flavors was pistachio, and it was very pistachio-y and delicious.
We forgot the other two flavors.
It was the best we had in Italy.
Day 5
Foro Romano
We went to the Roman Forum first thing in the morning.
If you have a ticket for the Colosseum, you can enter for free.
It was like ancient Rome, and we had an overall impression that each of the buildings was large in scale.
The Colosseum ticket also gave us free access to the Palatine Hill.
Since it is a hill, we have a strong impression of climbing up the hill and stairs.
Next, we headed to the Mouth of Truth.
We waited about 15 minutes for a free photo with them.
There was a group of Chinese tourists before us, so we waited longer.
If your timing is good, you can take pictures without waiting.
We forgot to take a picture only at the Mouth of Truth, so I attached the free material.
The nearby gelato shop, Cerchi Ice Cream, was also good.
I had maritozzo for the first time and it was delicious.
It cost 6.5 euros (946 JPY).
We went to the Colosseum.
If you try to enter with a same-day ticket, the line is at a level that will end your day, so purchasing a ticket in advance is recommended.
However, it is difficult to purchase tickets from the official website.
Many people purchase tickets through expensive tour companies, but we were able to purchase tickets from the official site, so here are some tips.
- Make reservations as early as possible
- Tickets are paid out again one week before the event, so aim for that time
We showed our ticket to the attendant and entered the Colosseum.
It was a sight to behold.
To get to the lower landing area, you need to book a tour.
It was nice to see it from the outside.
After leaving the Colosseum, we went to “I MASSARI” for lunch.
It cost 33 euros (4,849 JPY) for two pastas.
We felt it was expensive but it was not a tourist spot.
We picked up our luggage from the hotel and headed to Fiumicino airport.
From the nearest train station, we went to the infamous Termini station, from where there is a nonstop express train to the airport.
If you want to witness Italy's famous pickpockets, just go to Termini station.
There was a woman who repeatedly walked back and forth on the escalator.
There was a man who talked to us while taking a video saying that he would teach us how to operate the ticketing machine.
We too were ransacked by pickpockets.
Many people in Italy also stop on the left side of the escalator, and we were also on the left side because we had luggage.
A woman walked up the right side of the escalator, but for some reason she stopped right next to us twice and walked past us.
We had to use a special machine to issue tickets for the express train.
A staff member told us that we were trying to issue tickets using the wrong machine and we made it to the train in time.
We were skeptical as to who was the real official or the gypsy.
The ticket gate was a QR code system.
Time was so tight that we took no pictures of the ticketing machine or the train.
It cost 28 euros (4,114 JPY) for two people.
The train was clean and comfortable and we arrived at the airport safely.
We flew with Transavia Airlines to Paris Orly Airport.
Transavia Airlines is bright green on their website, so we expected the plane to be green, but we were disappointed to see only green letters.
It cost 128 euros (18,562 JPY) for two people.
