
The Backrooms - my Experience / Blender 3D

I had to make a video in this genre for a test assignment. Then a brief description.

Character
The figure of the character on the request "Alien" was quickly found on CGTrader in the category for free.

Rigging and two motion animations (peeking out and raiding) were done in a Mixamo.

Scene
The endless corridor is taken on ArtStation. The work is quite complete and did not require additional settings.


Camera
The most interesting experience for me in this work is tracking the camera. At first I thought to add realism to the movement with the Camera Shakify add-on. But then I found the CamTrackerAR App.
CamTrackAR is a smartphone application that allows you to shoot videos with 3D surface tracking. After shooting 15 seconds of video, I completely transferred the camera movement from the iPhone to Blender.

The two files that you will need are the metric itself and the Blender plugin:

It remained to render the final video by applying a couple of VHS effects in After Effects.
