10作目のオリジナル曲は、初めて英詞にしてみました。
作曲は相方さんです。
英語は苦手というわけではないのですが、日本語に比べると語彙力や表現力が圧倒的に劣るので、作品にはあまり使えません。
また、英語と日本語では単語の音の取り方が違うように感じてて、それも作品に入れる際に難しいなと思うところでもあります。
ではなぜ今回英詞にしたかというと、デモをいただいた時に「これは英語だな」と思ったからです。
日本語で歌う音がイメージできなかった、というほうが正しいかもしれません。
そのため最初から英詞にするつもりで作詞を始め、出来上がったのがこの「Beautiful」です。
英語を英語として理解できる方からすると無茶苦茶な歌詞かもしれません。
発音も音の取り方も、全部「変」かもしれません。
だから公開するときに、いつもよりちょっと不安でした。
今のところヤジるコメントは届いてないので、もうこのまま届かないことを願います苦笑
しかしこの曲、お洒落ですよね。
私は歌と作詞のみで、その他は相方さんやサポートメンバーがアレンジしてくださいます。
特にギターのこのジャジーな感じは想像してなかったので、トラック届いた時にすごい感動しました。
と、同時に。
「ここに自分の歌声入れるんだよなぁ・・・」と恐れ多く感じたのもまた事実汗
今回に限らず、素晴らしいトラックをいただくたびに「応えられるだろうか・・」と緊張するんですけどね。
でもこの緊張感、嫌いじゃないです。
自分の表現の幅を広げてもらった気がして、むしろ有難いです。
私にこんなお洒落な曲作る才能ないですから。
さて、Moon Jellyはすでに来年公開予定の楽曲制作を始めています。
次はどんなトラックで歌わせてもらえるのかなって、私がとても楽しみにしています。
