問題:What can be done to improve Japanese education system?

イントロ

Although there are many things to improve about Japanese educational system, I think that there are two changes should be done.

ボディ1

The first one is that we are focusing too much on English.
Many universities focus on English in the entrance exam, and this is why students are forced to study English even though they are not interested in English.
Also, to develop the second language skill, you need to focus on your first language at the same time, but I feel like Japanese class are decreasing instead of English class.

The second reason is that we need to introduce more reading class.
Because Instagram and YouTube are popular, there are less opportunities for students to read books. Some of them are even struggling reading comics. We need to focus on the practice to visualize sentences it will enhance their imagination.

Although there are many changes to be done, I chose these two changes.

質問

・Some people say students should study the different things in the same classroom.

Do you think this would increase teacher’s workload?
I don’t think so.
They can study different things in the same classroom because the tablets allow them to do that. So they can study independently so teachers don’t need preparation for the classes and they can focus more on the management .
I think that it is a good thing.

・Some people worry that focusing too much on independent learning would hurt some students who are not motivated or who have less self-disciplined.
What do you think about that?

I think that it cannot be helped. We cannot force them to study if they are not interested.
After graduation from the junior high school, it is optional to choose higher education or not. When you want to study again, you can start. The parents and teachers are focusing too much on going to better universities. I feel like it is option so you can choose your choice with your responsibility.

・Can you think of any disadvantage to hands-on learning?

I think that letting students decide what they are going to all the time is sometimes irresponsible. I mean, they are just students and children, so they are not mature enough to choose and decide. They don’t have enough knowledge to decide what to do. This is why they are learning. I think that this is the problem.

・What do you think are things that should not definitely be changed in the Japanese education system?

I think that self-serving system during the lunch time and self-cleaning system in Japan.
When I was in Australia, I was so surprised because the Australian students don’t know how to take care of their classroom and their belongings. After they broke something, they just think that they can buy them. Sometimes I was so stressed. The system I mentioned is a great way to learn how to take care of rooms and their belongings. Also it is a good way not to give others hard time.

・Some students worry that if students are not motivated by the Entrance Exam, they might not study as hard and the Japan’s education might decline. Do you think that’s a valid argument?

I think that if you are not interested in studying, just stop it.
They are optional. I am a big supporter of entrance exam, and you cannot blame.
Japanese education level is declining because some private schools are aggressivelyintroducing American enrollment system, and they don’t have to study as hard as they used
to be. So, and universities are the place to learn. If you don’t want to learn what is the point of going to school.

・Many people are concerned about that there has been a breakdown in discipline in schools. What do you think about that?

I cannot see the point of this. I mean people were eager to introduce the system to make students independent and now they are complaining that students are not disciplined? That is what you want. They are completely contradicted so you can not get both at the same time.

・Do you think that college degree is necessary to be successful in life?

Not at all.
I don’t know the definition of successful, but I think Companies and private schools are forcing students to think that they need to go to good schools, but it is optional. About 50% of the students are not going to the school so if you don’t want to study just stop.
