Autumn in Tokyo 2022

Between late September to November last year, I managed to take a trip to Tokyo. That was the first time traveling out of Singapore since the COVID19 outbreak began, putting a halt to international travel. Eventually, with the availability of vaccines and most of the world's population being vaccinated, travel restrictions were lifted in stages, varying from country to country.

The last time I departed from Tokyo is on February 9th, 2020, and it has been more than two years since I set foot into Japan. The purpose of my recent visit is for personal reasons which I shall not share the details here, but it is definitely a positive one. However, the procedure to apply for a special visa to enter Japan at the Japanese Embassy of Singapore was also long, requiring various sets of documents and verifications. I was glad the effort paid off when my application was approved.

And so I landed in Tokyo possibly at the beginning of Autumn season. The temperature was comfortable, definitely much cooler compared to Singapore. Ultimately, I was very happy to be in Tokyo again.

For the seven weeks spent there, I visited places which I'm familiar with. Sadly, some businesses no longer exist and are replaced by new ones; due to factors likely caused by the pandemic, the ongoing Russian-Ukraine conflict and inflation.

No matter how drastic the global economy changes during these uncertain times, the seasons never change.

Apart from dwelling in the city or nearby towns, I made some visits to places with nature just to indulge myself in some peace and serenity, amid the unpleasantries occurring across the world. So, I would like to share selected photos which I took from these little trips.

One funny thing I forgot to mention is… It was also my intention to take photos of birds in nature at these locations, but luck wasn't really on my side. Oh well, better luck next time I hope!

The trip was fruitful accomplishing what I needed to do; eating wonderful Japanese food which I miss, trying out new restaurants with great food, bought 2 pairs of Merrell shoes (which are only available in Japan) as well as some clothes from Columbia, exploring suburban Tokyo by car and most importantly, meeting people and a rabbit whom I cherish very much.

While I am currently here in Singapore as my presence is needed for my business, I'll be looking forward to embark on the next journey to Japan.

Have a great Sunday evening!
