睨みをきかせる赤青の仁王像。四天王寺　 A red-blue Nio statues that makes a glaring impression. 【Shitenno-ji Temple】

伽藍の配置は、南から北に向かい中門、五重塔、金堂、講堂と一直線に並ぶ。それを回廊が周りを取り囲む形式で、古い建築様式の伽藍である大阪 四天王寺さん。
寺院は色彩鮮やかな独特な趣きが感じられるお寺である。聖徳太子が創建した和宗本山のお寺としても知られている。

The cathedrals are arranged from the south to the north in a line with the middle gate, five-storied pagoda, Kondo, and auditorium.
Osaka Shitenno-ji is a cathedral with an old architectural style with a corridor surrounding it.
The temple is a temple where you can feel the colorful and unique atmosphere. It is also known as the temple of the main temple of Waso founded by Prince Shotokutaishi.

その四天王寺の中門で伽藍の守護神である仁王像が睨みをきかせている。向かって右側に赤色の「阿形像」那羅延(ならえん)金剛力士、そして左に青色の「吽形像」蜜迹(みっしゃく)金剛力士に、怪しい者ではござらん、伽藍見学と本尊お参りを、と問いかけると一瞬、怖顔から笑みが(？) 。勝手にそう思うと気分が高まる。

The statue of Nio, the guardian deity of the cathedral, glares at the inner gate of Shitenno-ji. To the right is the red "Agyo statue" Naraen Kongo Rikishi, and on the left is the blue "Ungyo statue" Mitsushaku Kongo Rikishi. When I asked them to visit, I saw a smile from thier scared face for a moment. If l think so, l feel better.

同寺の赤色、青色の仁王像は珍しい。なぜ仁王像に色が塗られているのか、と思い明確な理由は見当たらなかった。ただ、如来と菩薩は仏像の格は高い。悟りを開いているレベルなので金箔を施しているものが多い。
仁王像である金剛力士像は、格が下がるので極彩色で表現されている、ということになる。さあ、推測の域を超えないが、当たらずといえども遠からずであろう。

The red and blue Nio statues of the temple are rare. I wondered why the Nio statue was painted, and I could not find a clear reason. However, Buddha statues of Nyorai and Bodhisattva are high. Since it is a level of enlightenment, many of them have gold leaf.
The statue of Kongo Rikishi, who is the Nio statue, is represented in a super colorful color because the figure is lowered. Well, it's beyond speculation, but it won't be far, even if it doesn't hit.
