「源義経 鎧かけ松」が四天王寺の松の伝説に【松 シリーズⅡ】 “Minamoto Yoshitsune's armored pine” becomes the legend of Shitenno-ji pine

昨年、用事があって大阪 四天王寺さんを訪れたとき “松づくし” に驚いた。まず、本坊玄関の衝立には見事な松の画が描かれていた。そして、待合いの大広間の中庭には黒松だろうか、あるいは五葉松だろうか、それは見事な松が植えられてあった。
煎茶席で使った茶室が「和松庵(わしょうあん)」という。松下幸之助氏が寄贈されたものと聞いた。さらに、座談会が行われた方丈の床の間には歴史を想像させる中国松の壁画が描かれていた。

Last year, I was surprised at the full of pine when I visited Shitenno-ji in Osaka due to an errand. First of all, a stunning pine painting was drawn on the screen at the Honbo entrance. There were stunning pine trees, whether it's Kuromatsu or Goyomatsu in the courtyard of the waiting saloon.
The tea room used at the green tea ceremony is called “Washouan”. I heard that Konosuke Matsushita was donated. In addition, a Chinese pine mural reminiscent of history was painted at Tokonoma wall where the roundtable was held.

四天王寺は、なぜこんなに松との関わりが深いのかという疑問が湧いた。
歴史的建造物や庭園には、松は不可欠な定木である。松は天に昇る龍をイメージさせる縁起木であるのはいうまでもない。それにしても松への執着が強いような気がしたので少し調べみた。

The question of why Shitenno-ji is so closely related to pine has come up to my mind.
Pine is an indispensable constant tree in historical buildings and gardens. It goes without saying that the pine is an auspicious tree reminiscent of a dragon rising in the heavens. Even so, I felt a strong attachment to pine, so I looked into it a bit.

その理由といえるのが、極楽門と西重門の間に「源義経鎧かけ松」という松の木がある。この松は、源義経が京から吉野山に逃れる途中に休息のため四天王寺に立ち寄り、鎧を松に掛けて休んだという伝説が松の名称になったといわれている。
そういう伝説のもと、この松は1984年に大阪のロータリークラブより四天王寺に寄贈された。それを機に源義経所縁の松となって、四天王寺の歴史ストーリーの一つに加わっている。

The reason for this is that there is a pine tree between the Gokuraku gate and the Nishishige gate, called "Minamoto Yoshitsune’s Yoroikakematsu". The pine is said to have been called the legend that Yoshitsune Minamoto stopped at Shitenno-ji for rest on the way to escape the Mt.Yoshino from Kyoto.
Based on that legend, this pine was donated to Shitenno-ji in 1984 by a Rotary club in Osaka. It became a pine at the source of Yoshitsune Minamoto and took part in one of Shitenno-ji's historical stories.
