キャラクター紹介が終わったので、今回からは「Themes」を扱っていこうと思います。

英語版wikiではねじまき鳥クロニクルにおけるテーマを以下の４つに分類して、それぞれ考察しています。

今回は１ Desire（欲望）について、見ていきましょう。

小説を通してずっと、欲望はキャラクターを暗い場所へ導いている。

ということで、欲望についてでしたが、いかがでしたでしょうか？

綿谷昇の近親相姦の欲望、トオルの妻の幸せのための欲望、妻の性欲・・・

たしかに、それぞれの欲望がこの小説のテーマなのかもしれません。

ですが、村上春樹のキュウリのようにクールな文体のためか、それらの欲望は表面上、現れていないように見えるため、よくよく考えないと気が付きにくい部分なのかもしれません。
