おわりに

今回は正反対（polar opposite)についての考察でした。

急ですが、ここで質問です。
polar bear（ホッキョクグマ）のいる北極の正反対はどこでしょうか？

きっとみんなそう聞かれたら「南極」と答えますよね。

でもよく考えたら、南極と北極ってあまりにも似てますよね？

寒いし、植物もない。ひともほとんどいない殺風景。あたりは真っ白。

なんだか正反対のそれって、１周回ってかなり似てますよね。

おそらく、気候や生態系で比較するなら、北極の正反対は赤道付近の土地なのではないでしょうか。

このように我々が正反対だと言っているものの多くは、実はある特定の要素（北極と南極でいえば地理関係としては少なくとも正反対といえるでしょう）のみを恣意的に抜き取って比べているに過ぎません。

敵と味方だって、男と女だって、正義と悪だって、トオルと綿谷昇だって。
根本では共通している特徴を有しています。

争いは似たもの同士でしか起こりません。
比較だって、もともと似ている部分がある（野球選手とiittalaのマグカップをわざわざ比べる人はいないはずです）から成立します。
そして、比較があってはじめて「正反対」という概念が生まれます。

もし、「正反対である」ということで何かしら良くない感情が生まれているとしたら、一体どの要素が正反対で、どの要素が共通しているのかを分析し、正反対である要素間の中道（落とし所）を探していくことができれば、少しはいろいろ楽になっていく…のかもしれませんね。
