Respect others’ time - Oct. 25, 2023

It was literally a “絶起”! This term is a shortened form of “絶望的な起床” and refers to waking up just before an important event or schedule in the morning. That sounds quite desperate, doesn’t it?

Yesterday, I woke up at 6:35 am, but I had booked an online English communication lesson for 6:30 am. “Oh no… I overslept, so my teacher is waiting for me for 10 minutes. I have to set up my PC and join the classroom as soon as possible!” I thought like this within 10 seconds. Haha. As I expected, she seemed a bit unfriendly. This is only natural because I disrupted her schedule. Even though she teaches me English as her job and I am her student, I need to show respect and gratitude towards her. This is crucial for creating a positive learning atmosphere. I mean to say that “customers aren’t gods.” It’s natural to take a disadvantage even if we are paying for services when we inconvenience others.

We exist in relation to others, so I strive to be a person who respects others and demonstrates these thoughts through my own actions.
