ノマドワーカー vs. フリーランス：何が違うの？

インスタグラムなど見てくださる方にはいつも

「ノマドワーカーって何？」

と聞かれます。

ノマドワーカー＝フリーランス

のイメージが強いのではないでしょうか？

私も元々「ノマド」「フリー」「独立」「起業」「ダブルワーク」
など知らない単語が多すぎて別の世界のようでした。
 
簡単に言うと

【フリーランス】

雇われていない人、つまり個人で売り上げを上げている（自分の収入を得ている）人。

　➔種類1：ウェブデザインや制作・プログラミング・動画編集などのスキルを売って、案件を取る（サイトの案件に応募したり、自分でSNSで営業をかけるなど）。
クライエント（依頼側）が値段や締め切りを決めることもあり、相談して決めることもある。
 
　➔種類２：何か特別なスキルがあろうがなかろうが、個人で商品やサービスを出して売ることによって収入を得る。自分で単価や期間を決める。

【ノマドワーカー】

雇われていても、フリーランスでも、雇用形態関係なく拠点がなかったり、複数あったりして場所が自由だったり定期的に移動する人。
旅暮らし・ホテル暮らしなどしている人はノマドの枠に入ります。
 
※「ノマド」という言葉は、昔文明が家や町を作る前に狩りなどしながら、季節によって移動してくらしていた民族などを表す。今ではこういう生活の仕方があるからノマド＋ワーカーでノマドワーカーが誕生。

「職場」として利用することが多い✨

【独立】

雇われた状態からフリーランスになること。

【起業】

自分のオンラインビジネスや法人など、正式なビジネス・会社を作って売り上げを上げること。
フリーランスは自分でビジネスを作らなくても他の人から仕事をもらえるが、オンラインビジネスや会社を作る「起業」はフリーランスよりは少しレベルが高いと考えても良いでしょう（もちろんオンラインビジネスは誰でも作れますが）。

【ダブルワーク】

会社員兼フリーランス
など、本業と副業をバランスして働くなど、複数の仕事をかけもちしている状態。

これらは正式な定義ではなく、私がフリーランスという働き方を知った2年間で徐々に理解していったものです。

With so much new vocabulary like “digital nomad,” “side hustle” and “remote work” being thrown around in this new day and age, you might be wondering what differentiates a “digital nomad” from a “freelancer.”
 
Wait…did you think they were the same thing? Not surprising considering only 36% of Americans (in 2021, according to Forbes) and 17% of Japanese people (in 2019, according to Forbes) work as freelancers.
 
Since I have both “freelancer” and “digital nomad” written on my Instagram profile, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about these labels.
 
Don’t worry, I also had no idea what all these terms meant two years ago when I first learned the term “side gig.”
 
Here are some simple definitions to clear things up:
 

Freelancer:

Someone who works independently (is not employed by a single company), receiving payments from individual clients or companies they have partnered with.

Digital nomad:

Someone who can work from anywhere (they choose their location) because they work remotely, whether they work for a company or are a freelancer.

Entrepreneur:

Someone who has started their own business. 

Side gig/side hustle:

A side job you do outside of your regular work to earn extra income or start up your own business in your free time.

These are just my definitions of terms I learned after I first found out about the freelance lifestyle a couple of years ago.
