October 6, 2023: Tsuki-Mekuri （月めくり）

'Tsuki-Mekuri.’ I found the word while I was reading articles on ‘note’. But I disregarded it as I could not understand what it was. Then, I found it again the other day while I was reading articles. But I still could not understand it. But instead, the word ‘Hi-Mekuri’, a daily calendar, came up to my mind. At the same time, I thought that the Tsuki-Mekuri might be a kind of calendar. So I looked up it in a dictionary. Then, it was a monthly calendar, as I had imagined.
Ever since I was young, I have had little care about a day or date. I do not mind what the date or day is today. I often get the date wrong. I have often worked on a weekend or a public holiday without realising that it was a weekend or holiday. It is only when my wife has pointed it out that I notice it. I also have a monthly calendar in my room but I seldom look at it. So it is always out of date and one or more months behind. When I notice this, I remove the pages of the outdated months. I know how stupid I am and that I have wasted a lot of time. Nevertheless, I cannot change the habit and I still do not care much about a day or a date.
I do not use a diary with dates, either. I had once used a system diary on business. It was Time Systems' expensive one. When I began to use it, I enjoyed filling in the pages every day for a while. But as time went by, it was frustrating to fill the page every day because I had little to write in. At that time, I had a lot of appointments with my customers, but I managed them on the computer and did not use the diary.
I still do not know why I could not use it well. But I suppose that I had a mind not to be pressed by the day or the time.

　「月めくり」。noteで記事を読んでいた時に、この言葉を見かけました。でも、意味が分からなかったので、無視しました。後日、記事を読んでいると、また、これに出くわしました。その時も、この言葉の意味が分からなかったのですが、代わりに「日めくり」という言葉がうかんできました。日めくりカレンダーのことです。「月めくり」もカレンダーのひとつかと思い、辞書でしらべたら、そうでした。
　ボクは、昔から、曜日や日付には疎いです。今日が何月何日とか何曜日かということをあまり気にしません。そのため、曜日をよく勘違いします。また、週末や祝日も気にしないため、その日に平然と仕事をしていて、妻に「今日は休みだよ」と言われることがよくあります。カレンダーも滅多に見ません。部屋に月めくりカレンダーがあるのですが、ほとんど見ません。そのため、日付が古く、数か月遅れになっています。古いと気付くと、古いページを破ります。自分がバカで、時間を無駄にしているのは分かっているのですが、この癖は治りません。いまだに、曜日や日付を気にしません。
また、手帳も使いません。かつて、仕事で高いタイムシステムのシステム手帳を使ったことがあります。最初は毎日、ページを埋めるのが楽しかったのですが、段々、それが苦痛になってきました。毎日書くことがないからです。その当時は、お客さとのアポイントが沢山ありましたが、アポイントはパソコンで管理していて、手帳は使いませんでした。
　どうして、手帳をうまく使えなかったかいまだにわかりませんが、たぶん、日や時間に追われるのが嫌だったのだと思います。
