July 24, 2024: My Wife’s Support to My Aunt(1) （妻が叔母をサポート-1）
I really have to be grateful for my wife. She has done a lot of things to help my aunt. My aunt is now 95 years old and lives alone at a flat in Kyoto. She is still in good shape and manages to do a lot of things on her own with a little help from a career.
But one day, she called us, my wife and me, for our help. She has a lot of things that need to be done or decided before she pass away. But she did not know what to do and had no one that can rely on. So, we agreed to help her. But it is my wife and not me that has actually helped my aunt. My wife has a lot of knowledge and experiences in these things. She, who had worked in a tax account office for a long time, had been involved in these things many times. So, my wife gradually began to support her. But one day, she found that she needed to be officially authorised to do things on behalf of my aunt. As she was not related to the aunt, she sometimes had problems doing things on behalf of my aunt. So, she got a notary to draw up a deed. Of course, she had it drawn up after the agreement with the aunt. On the day it was drawn up, she woke up very early in the morning and went to my aunt’s flat in Kyoto where the notary drew up the document in front of my aunt, my wife and a witness.
My wife is now officially authorised to do things on behalf of my aunt, and my aunt is relived to have such an authorised person.
I was reminded of her professional skills and experience in this field. At the same time, I really appreciate her dedicated efforts to help my aunt.
妻には本当に感謝しなければなりません。ボクの叔母を助けるために世話をかけています。叔母は現在95歳で、京都のマンションで一人暮らしをしています。まだ元気で、ヘルパーさんに少し手伝ってもらえば、大体のことは自分ひとりでできる状態です。
でも、ある日、叔母がボクたち夫婦に助けて欲しいとの電話をしてきたのです。自分が亡くなる前にしなければならないこと、決めなければならないことがたくさんあり、それらをどうしていいかわからず、また頼れる人もいないという話でした。
それで、叔母をサポートすることになりました。でも、叔母を実際にサポートしているのは、ボクではなく妻です。妻はこうしたことに多くの知識と経験を持っています。税理士事務所に長く勤めていたので、こうしたことに何度も携わってきました。そこで、妻は徐々に叔母のサポートをはじめました。でも、ある日、叔母の代理人として正式な権限が必要なことがわかりました。叔母とは血縁関係がないため、叔母の代理をつとめる際に、問題が生じることがあったためです。そこで、公証人に証書を作成してもらうことにしました。もちろん、叔母との合意の上で作成してもらいました。その当日、妻は朝早く起きて京都の叔母のマンションに向かい、その場で、公証人が叔母と妻と立会人の前で書類を作成しました。
これで、妻は叔母に代わって物事を行う正式な権限を与えられ、叔母もこうした権限を持つ人を得たことに安心していました。
この分野に関する妻の専門的なスキルと経験に思い知らされました。と同時に、叔母への献身的なサポートに心から感謝です。
