August 8, 2023: Peace （平和）

Peace is like a glass sculpture. A certain balance of power has to be maintained to keep the peace. But the balance is so fragile that it can break at any moment. The peace in a family is kept by a strong bond between the members. But it is immediately broken if the bond is broken. We have often seen a lot of families broken down in the news recently. Society is also on the brink of breaking up. I do not know what is causing society to break up. But we see crimes rising and becoming more and more violent.
The world is more serious. It is very hard for me to find where the peace is kept, and much easier to find where the peace is not kept. The world still has a lot of things which disturb peace: wars, violence and human rights abuses.
I myself am fortunate to live in peace for now.

　平和は、ガラス細工のようなものです。平和は一定の力の均衡で成り立っている。でも、均衡は非常にもろく、あっという間に崩れる。家庭の平和は、強い絆で結ばれている。でも、絆が壊れると、家庭もあっという間に崩壊する。最近、家族崩壊のニュースをよく耳にします。社会もまた、崩壊の危機にあります。その原因はわかりませんが、犯罪が増え、しかも、ますます過激になっています。
　世界に目を向けると、もっと深刻です。平和が保たれているところを探すのが難しく、平和ならざるところを探すほうが簡単なくらいです。世界には平和を乱す戦争、暴力や人権侵害にあふれています。
　ボクは、幸いにも、今のところ、平和に暮らせています。
