Black Butler Vol. 1 [Manga Review with Spoilers] The most evil butler manga begins with a cup of tea.

Just a stone's throw from London lies the manor house of the illustrious Phantomhive earldom and its master, one Ciel Phantomhive. Earl Phantomhive is a giant in the world of commerce, Queen Victoria's faithful servant...and a slip of a twelve-year-old boy. Fortunately, his loyal butler, Sebastian, is ever at his side, ready to carry out the young master's wishes. And whether Sebastian is called to save a dinner party gone awry or probe the dark secrets of London's underbelly, there apparently is nothing Sebastian cannot do. In fact, one might even say Sebastian is too good to be true...or at least, too good to be human...



1. The Beginning of Black Butler


Black Butler is a manga by Yana Toboso that has been serialized since 2006.

Currently, 34 volumes of the manga have been published.

It has been adapted into anime many times, and the boarding school arc recently ended, with a sequel announced for 2025.

Set in Victorian England at the end of the 19th century, it depicts the exploits of Ciel Phantomhive, a 13-year-old boy who inherited the title of Earl, and his perfect butler, Sebastian Michaelis.

The next  chapter depicts the young master's abilities and his seemingly unfortunate circumstances.

Then, from chapter three, we see the young master's "job".

The young master runs a children's toy and candy company, but also manages the British underworld as the watchdog of the Queen.

This puts him in danger.

The young master is kidnapped and assaulted by a criminal organization.

The butler Sebastian comes to his rescue.

A capable, all-rounder, and the strongest butler.
His true identity is...

"I am a devil..of a butler."


The story of a young aristocrat and his butler begins in the beautiful and glamorous British Empire.
This first volume was originally four short stories, but from volume two onwards, it becomes a full-length story and the long story begins. The clothes and building furnishings are drawn in accordance with the era, and the manga art is very beautiful. In addition, the story also has many hints.
