Wishcycling is putting something

and hoping it will be recycled.

Hope is central to wishcycling. 

People may not be sure 

the system works, 

but they choose to believe 

that if they recycle an object, 

it will become a new product 

rather than being buried 

in a landfill, burned or dumped.

The U.S. recycling industry 

was launched in the 1970s 

in response to public concern 

over litter and waste. 

The growth of recycling 

and collection programs 

changed consumers’ view 

of waste.

To make further progress, 

governments and businesses 

and us will have to think 

more about disposal 

and reuse in mind, 

reducing consumption 

of single-use products and 

making investments 

in recycling infrastructure.

ーウィッシュサイクリングとは？ー

ウィッシュサイクルとは、リサイクルボックスに何かを入れそれがリサイクルされることを願うことです。ウィッシュサイクリングでは希望が中心です。人々はこのシステムがうまく機能するかどうかはわからないけど、リサイクルの箱に入れれば埋立地に埋めたり、燃やしたり捨てたりするのではなく新しい製品になると信じることを選択するのです。

米国のリサイクル産業は、ゴミの散乱や廃棄物に対する社会の関心に応えて、1970年代に開始されました。リサイクルや回収プログラムが普及したことで消費者の廃棄物に対する考え方が変わりました。さらに前進するためには、政府や企業、そして私たちは、廃棄と再利用を念頭に置き、使い捨て製品の消費を減らし、リサイクルインフラに投資することをもっと考えなければならないでしょう。
