小川町 酒蔵まつり 2023.2.26/ Ogawa-machi Sake Brewery Festival 2023
埼玉県小川町の酒蔵まつりに妻と二人で行ってきました。今回初めて参加しましたが、前回の2019年（平成31年2月）以来の開催とのことで過去に掲載されていた写真等と比較しても大盛況だったと思います。
参加されていたのは、松岡醸造さんと晴雲酒造さんの2つの酒蔵さんで、試飲の他、地元のグルメ店も多数出店していて、飲み歩き、食べ歩きすることができました。小川町駅と2つの酒蔵さんの間は、シャトルバスも運行されていましたが、徒歩で移動し小川町の風景も楽しみました。少し風が強かった事を除けば、晴天にも恵まれ、酒蔵まつりを堪能させていただきました。そして一番印象的で本当に大切なことだな、と思ったことは、参加者の”笑顔”でした。おいしい食べ物と、おいしいお酒が人と人をつなぎ、交流の場を創り、”笑顔”を生み出していました。改めて、お酒のパワーを感じるとともに、企画から運営をしていただいた小川町酒蔵巡り実行委員会の皆さんには感謝申し上げたいです。また、機会を見つけて小川町に行きたいと思います。
I visited the Sake Brewery festival in Ogawa-machi, Saitama, with my wife. Ogawa-machi is located in central Saitama Prefecture in the Ogawa basin and is surrounded by the Soto Chichibu Mountains. It was my first time visiting the festival. The event was held for the first time since the last time in 2019 (February 2019) and was a great success compared to the photos and information posted in the past.
Two sake breweries, Matsuoka Brewery and Seiun Sake Brewery, participated in the event. In addition to tastings, there were many local food stores where visitors could drink and eat in the area. Shuttle buses between Ogawa-machi Station and the two breweries were available, but we enjoyed the Ogawa-machi scenery by walking. The weather was nice, except for a bit of wind so we could enjoy the festival. The festival's most impressive and essential point was the "smiles" on the faces of the participants. Good food and good sake brought people together, created places for communication, and made people smile. Again, I felt the power of sake, and I would like to thank the Ogawa-machi Sake Brewery Tour Committee for their planning and management of the event. I hope to find another opportunity to revisit Ogawa-machi.
小川町駅から晴雲酒造さんへ/ From Ogawa-Machi Station to Seiun Sake Brewery
朝9:30頃に小川町駅に到着。既にシャトルバス乗り場は長蛇の列になっていました。前売券で購入した試飲用のお猪口を受け取り、バスは利用せずに徒歩で晴雲酒造さんへ行くことにしました。
We arrived at Ogawa-machi station around 9:30 AM. There was already a long line at the shuttle bus stop. After picking up the tasting cups I had purchased with my advance ticket, I decided to walk to Seiun Sake Brewery instead of taking the bus.

Receiving Ochoko cups (Ochoko is the Japanese word for a small sake cup that can be emptied in one gulp. The "o" in “ochoko” (お猪口) is a Japanese honorific prefix while “choko” means “a little bit.”)
徒歩で移動中、今回は残念ながら参加されなかった武蔵鶴酒造さんの脇を通っていきました。昨年末から休業されているとのことです。
While walking, we passed the Musashi-Tsuru Sake Brewery, which unfortunately did not participate in this event. They have been closed since the end of last year.
晴雲酒造さんにて/ At Seiun Sake brewery
10分ほど歩くと、晴雲酒造さんに到着。無料の甘酒をいただきながら試飲の列に並びます。試飲前には試飲リストが配布され、素人でも分かりやすく全て試飲することができました。女性向けのお酒も意識されていたように感じました（妻は日本酒苦手ですが、いくつか試飲していましたので）。
After a 10-minute walk, you will arrive at Seiun Sake Brewery. We waited in line to taste while enjoying free amazake (sweet sake). Before the tasting, a tasting list was handed out, making it easy for people to understand and taste everything. I felt that they were also promoting for those unfamiliar with sake (My wife does not drink sake much, but she tasted some of them).

晴雲酒造さんから松岡醸造さんへ（川沿いルート）/From Seiun Shuzo to Matsuoka brewery (Route along a river)
晴雲酒造さんから徒歩にて、槻川を見ながら遊歩道を進みます。途中住宅街を抜けて県道進むと、「帝松」の看板が見えてきます。歩いて30分ほどでした。
We walked along the promenade from the Seiun Sake Brewery while viewing the Tsuki River. On the way, pass through a residential area and continue on the prefectural road, and you will see a sign for "Mikadomatsu." It took about 30 minutes on foot.

到着した時は既に11時頃になっていたと思いますが、既にシャトルバスからの参加者等で長蛇の列になっていて会場が人であふれていました。試飲の列がどれなのか分からないくらいに大盛況でした。
I think it was around 11:00 when we arrived, and the event area was already crowded with a long line of people from the shuttle buses. It was so full of people that I could not tell which line was for the tasting.

でも、試飲できたお酒をお土産としていただきましたので家でじっくり味わいます。
Sake samples (It was a regret that we could not take enough time to taste due to the enormous crowd...). However, I was able to buy some sake as souvenirs, so I will enjoy them at home.
会場は、結構混雑しており、写真を撮るのを忘れるほどでしたが、試飲の他、樽酒を結構いただきつつ、武州うどん、鮨処梅田さんの焼きおにぎり・玉子焼き・ホタルイカの炙り、インド料理ラジュモハンのから揚げ等もおいしくいただき、お腹一杯になりました。（小川町駅までの帰り道も摂取したカロリーを消費すべく徒歩にて）
The event was so crowded that I forgot to take pictures, but I was able to enjoy not only sake tastings but also cask sake, as well as Bushu udon noodles, grilled onigiri, omelet, and seared small squid (Hotaru-Ika) from Sushi Restaurant Umeda, fried chicken from Indian restaurant Rajmohan, and other delicious foods, and I was full. (We walked back to Ogawamachi Station to burn calories.)
終わりに/ Summary
会場を見渡して一番印象的で本当に大切なことだなと思ったことは、いつの間にか、至る所で小宴会のような場が創り出され、参加されていた方々の”笑顔”があふれていることでした。本当に皆さん楽しそうにしていましたね。私も笑顔になっていたと思います。
お酒はもともと神様への捧げものとして、神と人を結び付けるものだったようですが、その後、人と人を結び付けるものとなり、人びとの日常でも親しまれるようになってきた歴史があります。今日の”笑顔”をみて、人をよび、そして人の笑顔をたくさん生み出した日本酒のパワーを感じた一日でした。本当にありがとうございました。引き続き勉強していきます。
Looking around the event, what I found most striking, and what I thought truly important, was how the event created a kind of atmosphere like small parties in every area, and how the participants were full of "smiles”. Everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves. I think I was smiling, too.
Sake was originally a gift to the gods that brought gods and people together, but later, it became something that brought people together. It also has a history of being enjoyed by people in their daily lives. Seeing the smiles on people's faces today, I felt the power of sake, which has attracted people and brought many smiles to their faces. Thank you very much and I will keep studying.
