秩父 酒蔵巡り/ Chichibu Sake Brewery Tour

　2023.5.6（土） ゴールデンウィーク終盤、埼玉県秩父の2つの酒蔵さん巡りをしてきました。秩父錦の矢尾本店さんと武甲酒造さんです(これで、６，７蔵（埼玉34蔵制覇までの道のりはまだ遠い）)。
2023.5.6 (Sat), at the end of Golden Week, I went to two sake breweries in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture. We visited: Yao Honten of Chichibu Nishiki and Buko Sake Brewery (now we have visited 6 or 7 breweries, and still have a long way to go to complete the 34 breweries in Saitama).

　秩父には、ハイキングやトレイルランニング練習等のために車でよく訪れていますが、今回は酒蔵巡りということで試飲もしたいことから電車利用としました。記憶が確かならばおそらく初めてです。往路は西武鉄道、復路は秩父鉄道を利用しました。車とはまた違った楽しみ方、車だと今まで普通に通り過ぎて気づかなかった地域・場所等の発見もありました。
I often visit Chichibu (the westernmost part of Saitama prefecture) by car for hiking and trail running practice, but this time I decided to take a train because I wanted to visit sake breweries and try some of their products. If I remember correctly, this was probably my first time to take a train. We used the Seibu Railway on the way out and the Chichibu Railway on the way back. We enjoyed the trip differently than by car, discovering areas and places we would have usually passed by by car and not noticed.

本当は、長瀞にある酒蔵さんやかき氷屋さん等にも立ち寄りたかったのですが、いい感じに疲労感がたまりましたので2つの酒蔵さん巡りで切り上げることにしました。秩父地域は全て徒歩での移動（約20000歩）となりましたが、天気にも恵まれ良い日帰りの旅となりました。
We wanted to stop at a sake brewery and a shaved ice shop in Nagatoro. Still, we were a little tired, so we decided to cut off the tour with a visit to two sake breweries (Yao Honten of Chichibu Nishiki and Buko Sake Brewery). We walked in the Chichibu area (about 20,000 steps). The weather was fine, and it was a good day trip.

特急等は使わずに、普通電車にゆられながら、ゆっくりと西武秩父駅に到着。一応、バスの時間を再確認しましたが、40分くらい待つようなのでそのまま徒歩で、「酒づくりの森」へ向かいます。
We arrived at Seibu-Chichibu station without using the Special Rapid Service. I checked the bus time, but it seemed to be a 40-minute wait, so I headed for the "Sake-making Forest" on foot.

西武秩父駅から約4km (約45分)、"酒づくりの森"に到着。秩父地酒「秩父錦」の醸造工場と酒蔵資料館、そして試飲やお土産を購入できる物産館を併設した観光酒蔵になっています。この日も西武秩父駅で試飲等をやっていたそうですが、やはり実際に現地にきて、酒蔵見学・資料館での情報を得たうえで試飲したいと思いましたのでやってきました。汗ばみながらも、徒歩で頑張った価値は大いにあります。少し休憩したあと、係の方にお願いして、酒蔵見学・資料館の案内いただきました。
About 4 km (45 minutes) from Seibu-Chichibu Station, you will arrive at the "Sake-Making Forest". It is a sightseeing sake brewery with a brewing factory of Chichibu Nishiki, Chichibu's local sake, a sake brewery museum, and a souvenir shop where you can taste the sake and buy souvenirs. I heard that a tasting was available at Seibu-Chichibu station on that day, but I wanted to visit the brewery and get more information about the brewery and the museum before going for a tasting. Even though we were sweating, it was well worth the effort to go on foot. After a short break, we asked the staff to take us on a tour of the brewery and museum.

酒蔵資料館入口 / Entrance of sake brewery museum

今年できたお酒がひっそりとよく冷えた貯蔵室で貯蔵されています。
This year's sake is stored safely in a well-cooled cellar.

こちらのお酒は、ほとんどが地元で消費されるとのことでした。お寺や神社が多いですし、それからお祭りも多いとのことからのようですが、なるほど・・・と思いました。
I was told that most of the sake here is consumed locally. I thought this was because there are many temples, shrines, and festivals in the area.

発酵もろみの貯蔵タンクです。写真には、タンク上部のみ写っていますが、作業安全面、衛生面からこのような構造になっているとのことでした。
This is a storage tank for fermented mash. The photo shows only the upper part of the tank, but we were told that the tank was constructed in this way for work safety and hygiene reasons.

資料館です。
1749年創業からの古文書や昔の道具類が展示されています。
This is a museum. Old documents and tools from the past, dating back to the establishment in 1749, are on display.

物産館に戻り、冷たい甘酒（こういう飲み方もあるんですね）や大吟醸酒の試飲、酒ソフトクリーム等をいただき、妻用に梅酒を1本いただきました。私のお酒のお土産は、西武秩父駅にもあるとのことなのでそちらで購入することにしました。これからまた50分近く歩くことになり結構重いので（笑）。
Back at the souvenir shop, we had cold amazake (this was the first time I had had this kind of drink), daiginjo shu tasting, sake soft serve ice cream, etc., and a bottle of plum wine for my wife. The souvenirs I wanted to buy were also available at Seibu-Chichibu station, so we decided to buy them there. It was a pretty heavy walk for almost 50 minutes again.

また西武秩父駅方面へ/ Again, toward Seibu-Chichibu Station.

車では間違いなく通れない道を行きます。今回は立ち寄らなかったのですが、車だとおそらく気づかないお店が何件かありました。見るからにおいしそうな豆腐屋さん（手づくり豆腐まんてん）。今思えば、少し立ち寄っても良かったかも、と思います。HPをみるといろいろと美味しそうなものばかりです。
We took a road that was not passable by car. I didn't stop by this time, but there were several stores that I probably wouldn't have noticed by car. A tofu shop (handmade tofu manten) that looked delicious. Looking back, I think it might have been a good idea to stop by for a while. The website has all kinds of delicious-looking food.

戻りのタイミングでちょうど昼時のよい時間になってきたので、どこか良いお店がないかと徒歩で巡ります。が、目当てにしていたお店は大行列になっていたり、本日はお弁当のみだったりで結果として、また、西武秩父駅に到着してしまいました。さらに徒歩で探す気力もなく、西武秩父駅内のフードコートで、炙り姫豚丼をいただきました。往復約8km で日差しも結構強かったので美味しくいただき体力もほぼ回復。
It was just about lunchtime when we came back, so we went around on foot to see if there were any good restaurants. However, the restaurant we were looking for had a huge line waiting, or only had bento boxes today, and as a result, we ended up at Seibu-Chichibu Station again. I didn't have the energy to look for more places on foot, so I had a seared princess pork bowl at the food court in Seibu-Chichibu station. It was an 8 km round trip and the sun was shining, so I enjoyed the dish and almost recovered my strength.

同じ建物内には、”酒匠屋台”というところがあり、お土産や秩父の地酒を飲み比べできる場所がありました。
In the same building, there is a "Sake Takumi Yatai" where you can buy souvenirs and compare local Chichibu sake.

ここで先ほど購入しようとした、秩父錦  特別純米酒  原酒　をいただきました。
Here we purchased a bottle of Chichibu-Nishiki Special Junmai Sake, which we had planned to buy earlier.

武甲酒造さんへ/ To Buko Sake Brewery

西武秩父駅から徒歩で武甲酒造さんへ向かいます。途中、「今宮神社」にお参りをしまして、無事に武甲酒造さんに到着。
From Seibu-Chichibu station, we headed on foot to the Buko Brewery. On the way, we visited "Imamiya Shrine" and arrived at the Buko Brewery safely.

樹齢約1000年、埼玉県・秩父市天然記念物とのこと。
The tree is about 1000 years old and is a natural monument of Saitama Prefecture and Chichibu City.

武甲酒造さんに到着。Arrived at Buko Sake Brewery.

こちらでは、酒蔵見学等は予約が必要なようだったので、お土産として、武甲正宗 特別純米 原酒をいただきました。結構ずっしりきます。もともとの計画では、このあと、長瀞まで電車で移動してもう一つの酒蔵さんを訪問予定でしたが、何とも言えない感じの良い疲労感となり、秩父鉄道の時間も丁度良さそうなので熊谷経由でそのまま帰ることにしました。
Since it seemed that reservations were required for sake brewery tours, we were given a bottle of Muko-Masamune Special Junmai Genshu (unprocessed sake) as a souvenir. It was quite heavy. My original plan was to take the train to Nagatoro to visit another sake brewery, but I felt indescribably tired and decided to return home via Kumagaya because the Chichibu Railway seemed to be just in time.

梅酒・原酒2本・お猪口をお土産にいただきました。
一番、左は、梅酒用につけた梅です。持ち帰り自由とのことでいただいてきました。
We received two bottles of plum wine, two bottles of sake, and a sake bottle as souvenirs. The left one is a plum that was dipped for plum wine. SInce they were free to take home, we decided to take them.

終わりに/ In closing:

今回は、いつもとはまた異なる方法での秩父訪問となりました。6月はどこにいこうかと思案中です。長瀞ですかねえ。また、メモに残したいと思います。ではまたよろしくお願いいたします。
This time, we visited Chichibu in a different way than usual.
I am now thinking about where to go in June. It might be Nagatoro. I will write it down here, and thank you again.
