◆実際に解く模様（動画）

前回は時間の計測を忘れていたので、今回は録画しながら書きます。

せっかくなので、その様子にコメントを足して、動画にしてみました。
（※音量設定がバグっていたのでアップしなおしました。）

9:18 使っちゃってますが、問題文を読む時間を考えると、やりすぎました。177語。もっと短くした方が実践的ですね。

　　

◆答案例

In my opinion, television watching can have a positive influence, allowing us to encounter a wide range of new topics. Although people today typically obtain information on the Internet, this does not necessarily help broaden our horizons since we tend to choose contents based primarily on our own preferences. In contrast, we cannot control what television programs offer as we do when browsing websites. There are a limited number of channels on television, and the contents available might not interest you at first. However, this is exactly what could broaden our perspectives. For instance, when watching a documentary about life in France with your family, you cannot change channels if others seem to be attracted. You may not like this, but by being exposed to the show for a while, you may start to feel various aspects of how French people live intriguing, which could lead you to read more about the French way of living, or even its history. As can be seen in this example, television watching has the potential to make us more knowledgeable. (177 words)

【追記】
視野を広げる broaden one's horizonsのパラフレーズで、
broaden one's perspectives
と書いてますが、このsは無い方がベターっぽいですね。反省。

In my estimation, the act of television viewing can have a salutary impact, affording us exposure to a diverse array of novel subject matter. While people nowadays often obtain information via the Internet, this does not necessarily engender a more nuanced understanding of the world around us, as we tend to selectively choose content based primarily on our personal preferences. In contrast, television programming is beyond our control and may offer subject matter we would not otherwise encounter. The available channels on television are constrained in number, and the subject matter presented may not initially pique our interest. However, this is precisely what can foster a broadening of our horizons. 今回も目を引く箇所は太字にしています。ChatGPTとの勉強は毎回、この語彙コーナーがかなり勉強になります。

・engender　生み出す、生じさせる
・pique one's interest　興味をかきたてる
・delve into O　Oを掘り下げる、徹底的に調べる
・augment　増やす、補強する

などなど、リーディングで見かけることはあっても、なかなか自分で書けない表現ばかり。

また、we would not otherwise encounterと自然に仮定法を埋め込んでいるのも良いですね。

「書けた！ミスも少なそう！」と自分で思っても、その答案ごとChatGPTに書きかえてもらうと、頻繁に新たな発見があります。　

　　　　

◆まとめ

同じ問題で３つも答案例を作ってみました。１つめは実験的に作ったものなので、自分としては２つめ・そして今回の３つめが気に入っています。

ETSが発表しているサンプル問題は他にもあるので、そちらにもトライしてみようかなと思います。television watchingの問題はいったんここまでです :)
