【9】英単語学習記録

英語圏に２０年以上住んでいる私が、英語力をさらにアップさせる目的ではじめた超個人的なnote。

英語環境の中で見聞きした新しい単語・表現を中心に、今までに見聞きしたことはあっても使えていない単語・表現を含め、書き残しています。

９日目の今日は、数年前に新しく見聞きしてiPhoneのNotesに書いておいた英単語３つ。

英単語の意味は「Cambridge English Dictionary」で調べています。

例文はイギリス人の夫に教えてもらったものを載せています。日によって、毎回すべての単語に例文をアップすることができない場合もあると思いますが、無理せずにできる範囲でやっていこうと思います。

disdain

(n) [U]
a feeling of dislike towards someone or something and the opinion that they do not deserve any respect.

例文：He gave her a look of disdain when she presented him with a huge pile of paperwork. 

 

detritus

(n)［U］
1. waste material rubbish, especially left after a particular event.
2. a loose mass of decaying material.

例文：The vacuum cleaner brushes were full of detritus. 

spree

(n) [U]
1. a short period of doing a particular activity much more than is usual.
2. a period of time during which there is a lot of activity of a particular type, especially when this involves spending money.

今回は３つだけのアップでした。

日付が変わってしまっているので、１日開けてのアップになってしまいました。。。

タイトルの「～日目」っていうの、変えるかもしれません。

回数に変えたほうがいいかもしれませんね。
