以下エッセイ

In modern days, there is no denying fact that we are on the cusp of the revolution in new technologies, and many people cast doubt on whether our pursuit of a university degree in humanities is still relevant. Although some people claim that the rapid emergence of AI or medicine consigns a university degree in humanities to oblivion, I firmly believe that never in the future will this degree lose its importance.

To begin with, academia of humanities provides us with ample opportunities to develop our critical thinking and effective communication. For instance, lively discussions on ongoing social issues like poverty, inequality and racial discrimination with classmates have been increasingly main part of lessons in humanities field. Through such a debate in university classes, students can evaluate different perspectives from other classmates. This experience also encourages students to articulate their opinions clearly or collaborate with other counterparts, thus honing their communication skills.

Another main reason for my view is that a degree in humanities has the potential to enable us to make forays into various career paths. Contrary to the general consensus that humanities graduates are limited to careers such as teaching or academia, the reality is that many experts in numerous fields like law, journalism and public relations possess humanities degrees. Therefore, it can also be said that humanities graduates have a unique viewpoint and skill set that can be contributing factors in bringing increased cultural awareness to workplaces.

Furthermore, humanities graduates can pass down a vast body of knowledge to posterity.
Studying the humanities allows us to explore history or watershed moments that are necessary for people to understand. For instance, World War Ⅱ stands out as the case in point in which we can learn the atrocity of this calamity. This historical knowledge that was distilled down to what is the most important for us to obtain acts as a main catalyst for thinking objectively about what we should do to eliminate such a calamitous event.

It is often pointed out that humanities is an academic field that is of less importance to us in terms of increasing our income than computer science or programming. However, this is not often the case given the fact that humanities develops our critical thinking, opens up numerous career paths and fosters our understanding of past momentous events.
