【SS】美しい花

この花の名前は知らない。
けれど美しい花だと思う。

初めて咲いたときは　
小さくてつまらない花だと思った。

でも、球根を譲ってくれた知人は言う。

「もしも君が、花を美しくしたかったら　
　雄しべをね、すべて切ってしまうといいよ」

それで僕は、ピンセットを使って　

花粉が雌しべに触れないように注意しながら　
全部の花から雄しべを抜いたんだ。

こうすると、近くに同じ花はないから　
いくら待っても受粉できない。

しばらくすると、花弁が大きくなった。

その色も口紅のように鮮やかになり　
なんとも言えない香りを漂わせ始めた。

昼間だけ咲いていたのに　
そのうち夜も咲き続けるようになった。

かすかに蛍光さえ帯びている。
そして、いつまでも萎まない。

いつまでも枯れず、咲き続ける。

月明かりの夜、ひとりベランダで　
この美しい花を眺めていると　

なんだか妙な気分になってくる。
おかしな声まで聞こえてくる。

Beautiful Flower

I do not know the name of this flower.
But I think it is a beautiful flower.

When this first bloomed,
I thought it was a small and boring flower.

But, acquaintance who gave the bulbs says.

"If you want to make the flower beautiful,
you should cut off all the stamens."

So I used tweezers
and pulled the stamen from all the flowers,

being careful not to touch the pistil with the pollen.

In this way, since there is no same flower nearby,
it is impossible to pollinate
the flower regardless of how long it waits.

After a while, the petals grew in size.

The color became bright like a lipstick
and began to give off an indescribable smell.

Even though it was blooming only in the daytime,
it began to bloom in the evening.

It is even faintly fluorescent.
And it won't shrink forever.

It will never die and will continue to bloom.

When I was alone on the veranda and was looking
at this beautiful flower on a moonlit night,
I felt somewhat strange.
