「あの、お尋ねしたいのですが」

私は、異国の地で異国の人に
自国語で尋ねてみた。

「サナトダミアに続く道は、これですか？」

異国の人は無表情だった。

あるいは、あやしい異人である私に
あやしい言葉で呼び止められ、

どんな表情をすればいいのか
迷っていたのかもしれない。

しかし、異国の彼は首を振り、
別の道を指さした。

「サナトダミア」

私は驚いた。

そのような名前の地名か建造物か
あるいは観光名所であるか知らないが

まさか本当に存在するとは
思ってもいなかったから。

とりあえず礼を言わねばなるまい。
「ありがとうございます」

すると、異国の彼が初めて表情を浮かべ、
私に微笑んだ。

「サナトダミア」

さて、この示された道を私は歩まねばなるまい。
あの異国の彼がいつまでもこちらを見ているので。
　

Carefree Trip

in my native language in a foreign land.
"Is this the road to Sanato Damia?"

and smiled at me.

Because that exotic guy is looking at me forever.
