【Manga】ONE PIECE WANO ARC.

Hi! This is Pearl! It has been a while, hasn't it? How's everyone doing?

Today, I'm going to talk about the latest arc of One Piece and the masterful way Oda has related it to a legendary hero from Japan!

Two days ago in my class, I discussed about the Okayama prefecture in Japan with my student and in that textbook, was the story of Okayama's hero "Momotaro" and his adventures. I instantly realized the inspiration of Oda's Wano Arc. This was definitely it!

"Long ago in Japan, a poor, elderly couple discovered a large peach and, in it, the child they have always desired. They named him Momotaro. Momotaro grew up healthy and strong. When he heard that some oni living on the Onigashima island ("island of oni") were terrorizing the nearby villages, he decided to go to drive them away. His old parents were worried, but Momotaro begged them to let him go, so the old woman prepared for him some kibidango (Japanese dumplings made from millet flour).

Momotaro sets out to conquer the evildoers; along the way he befriended a dog, a monkey and a pheasant. They all went to the island and because they ate those kibidango, the best in Japan, Momotaro’s party grew so strong that they easily vanquished the oni and made them promise that they will never attack the villagers again."

It is very clear that Momonosuke is inspired from the hero in the legend, Momotaro. The dog is Inuarashi (or it could also refer to the entire mink tribe), the monkey is Luffy (I'll discuss another reason why later), the pheasant is Marco (who has now become an ally to the Strawhats) and the best 'kibidango' prepared by Momotaro's mom, as stated in the legend, could tame the beasts and made Momotaro and his friends stronger when they fought the oni, is obviously referring to Otama.

Otama will definitely have a great role during the war in Onigashima considering her power could tame even the wildest beastly commanders of Kaido, which could definitely turn the tides in their favor.

Now, as to why Luffy is definitely the monkey in the legend.

"Then Momotaro tied the devil chief up and gave him into the monkey’s charge."

It is very clear from here that the 'devil chief' being referred to is Kaido, and since Momonosuke already asked Luffy's help in defeating Kaido, the one to beat Kaido will definitely be Luffy.

Oh, how exciting! I am super pumped with the current arc of One Piece. I can't wait for the next chapter!
