Productivity
Reading Notes (Day 7)
Well, today I will continue to introduce you to some of the books I have read recently.
If I were the manager or marketer of a fruit candy store...
I might think of tomato flavor as an outlandish new product to increase sales from the existing grape or orange-flavored candies... and I would think that would not be productive.
It will not drastically change productivity and will not lead to innovation!
I picked up these words as a reminder to myself that this will not drastically change productivity and will not lead to innovation!
If the goal is to increase productivity by a factor of 4, then there are constraints such as how to make it possible to sell the product at 4 times the price, or at 1/4 the cost, or at 1/2 the cost while selling it at twice the price.
This constraint is the problem I want to solve and the source of innovation.
I remembered a quote from NHK's "Professionals" that says that it is precise because there are constraints that we can create new things.
I looked up who said it, and it was architect Kengo Kuma and screenwriter Koki Mitani!
(Oh my, they were broadcast in 2007 and 2011...! 😲)
...the topic has diverged.
In order to innovate, it is important to first recognize the problem correctly, and in this book, I realized what would happen if I thought about it in terms of productivity.
This is what I realized.
I think that the correct recognition of the problem is also related to Mr. Ataka's "Issue First", and this is a book that I would like to read again now.
(I wonder when I will be able to finish reading the assigned book,
"Shin-Nihon" 😂)
See you tomorrow!
