          人は、いや、人の一部分である知的好奇心は「わからない」という状態になかなか落ち着くことができない。それゆえ、常に「？」を抱え「！」を求めている、と仮説を立てたら「いや、待てよ、常に問いを抱き応えを求めている.... ということは、逆説的ではあるが、不可知に落ち着こうとしているという解釈もできなくもないことに気づいた。 Reflections by Thelonious 'Sphere' Monk from "Monk's Blues"。雲上にニョキッと、いや、忽然と姿を現した「モンク」の手の下にピアノはなく、背景は十牛図の「人牛倶忘」図のような球体。リリースは「禅」が認知されていたであろう1968年。オリバーネルソンの指揮による、夢見心地なオーケストレーションが功を奏している。

          LOVE JOYS の "LOVERS ROCK" からの一曲。ニューヨーク、ワッキーズ産のレゲエ。後半に Roland Alphonso の "Peplo's Place" をつなげている Extended Version。 曲のベースは「夏の日の恋 (Theme from a Summer Place)」。それにしてもメロディはどこからやってくるのだろう。コンクリートジャングルを物ともしない「こころのうた」。

          「山をほっつき歩く俺の場合、『ヤマン』は『山ん』でもあるんですよね」という滑ったMCを思い出した。はい、こちら J.C.Lodge (June Lodge) の3枚目のアルバムに収録された、グレゴリーアイザックスもカバーしているラバーズチューン。 制作は Augustus 'Gussie' Clarke 主宰の Music Works。ソウルのカバーだろうと思っていたのだが、調べたら Michael Bennett というジャマイカのアーティストの作品だった。リリースは1987年。Dean Fraser のサックスが効いている。

          プロデューサーでもある Jackie Mittoo をフィーチャーした、Janet Kay の歌物の Version。たぶん原曲は Jessy Dixon というゴスペルシンガーによるもの。それを Randy Crawford がカバーしたものをベースにラバーズロック化したという経緯だろうか。 1982年の作品。センターラベルのデザインが違うので Sugar Minott 主宰の Black Roots だとは思わなかったが、どうやらそのようである。Jackie Mittoo 参加の Sugar Minott の Wackie's からリリースされた "Wicked A Go Feel It" に雰囲気が似ている。 ♩Janet Kay - You Bring the Sun Out (Live TV Performance) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsyNtHyLzPk
