今聴く曲

テレビのニュースを見ると、悲惨な戦争の話の後に妙に明るい話が続いて、見ている私の心が分裂しそうです。アナウンサーや担当者は無神経なんでしょうか、それともすでにAIに置き代わっているんでしょうか。

在宅で仕事をするとき、時々音楽を聴きます。やる気を掻き立てたいときは、LOVE PSYCHEDELICOをよく聴きました。

しかし今は、自分のきしんだ心を落ち着かせるための音楽を聴きたくなります。一番しっくりくる曲は、イーグルスの"New Kid In Town"です。歌詞は英語で、難しい内容ではありません。以前から好きな曲でしたが、特に今はそう思います。

かつてアイルランドで、カトリック系の住民と、プロテスタント系の住民とが激しく対立していました。１９７２年にロンドンデリーで非武装の市民権デモ隊にイギリス軍が発砲し、１３人が亡くなりました。後に「血の日曜日事件」と言われています。

この事件の直後、ポール・マッカートニーは、「アイルランドに平和を」（Give Ireland Back to the Irish）という曲を作りました。youtubeで聞くことができます。スローなテンポですが、歌詞は直截です。歌詞の中のアイルランドをウクライナに、大英帝国をロシアにそのまま置き換えてしまうこともできます。でもそれは、人間が全く進歩していないことをあらわしています。

この曲は、発表当時、BBCなどは放送禁止にしました。そのころの私は中学生で、アイルランド紛争についてはほとんど知らず、ただこの曲だけは聞いた記憶があります。

今、ロシアの市民は、自国の大統領が仕掛けた戦争のことをどう思っているのでしょうか。国内でデモが起きて逮捕されていることは聞きます。ロシア人の中にも、反戦歌を作って歌っている人はいるでしょうか。ひょっとしたら、今ロシアでは、「アイルランドに平和を」を公共の場で演奏したり、自宅で聞くだけで逮捕されたりするのでしょうか。

Songs to listen to now

When I watch the news on TV, the story of the cruel war is followed by a strangely bright story, and my heart is about to split. Are the announcers and staff insensitive, or are they already being replaced by AI?

When I work from home, I sometimes listen to music. When I wanted to get motivated, I often listened to LOVE PSYCHEDELICO.

But now I feel the need to listen to music to calm my creaky mind. The song that fits me best is "New Kid In Town" by the Eagles. The lyrics are in English and not difficult to understand. I have always liked this song, especially now.

Once in Ireland, there was a fierce conflict between Catholics and Protestants. In 1972, British troops fired at an unarmed civil rights demonstrator in Londonderry, killing 13 people. It was later referred to as the "Blood Sunday."

Shortly after this incident, Paul McCartney wrote the song "Give Ireland Back to the Irish" You can listen to it on youtube. The tempo is slow, but the lyrics are straightforward. You can replace Ireland with Ukraine and the Great Britain with Russia in the lyrics. But that shows that humans haven't made any progress.

The BBC and others banned this song from the airwaves when it was released. I was in junior high school at the time and knew little about the Irish conflict, but I remember hearing this song.

What do Russian citizens think of the war that their president has set up? I hear about demonstrations and arrests in the country. Are there any Russians who are writing and singing anti-war songs? Now in Russia, one can be arrested for simply playing "Give Ireland Back to the Irish" in public or listening to it at home?
