オクシズとは静岡市の山間地域の総称です。オクシズの油島にあるお地蔵様をお参りしてきました。

油島の六地蔵
’Jizo is a popular Bodhisattva in Japan. He is the patron saint of travelers, children, and pregnant women, and statues of him are seen along many roads and streets.’
「地蔵は日本で人気のある菩薩である。地蔵は、旅行者、子供、妊婦の守護神であり、多くの道路や通りで地蔵の像は見受けられる。」

Jizo statues have been worshiped since the ancient time in Japan.
地蔵は日本で古代より信仰されています。
Jizo statues can often be seen as a set of six statues.
地蔵は六体ひとまとまりでよく見られます。
They are called ‘Roku Jizo’, which literally means ‘six Jizo Boddhisattva statues.’
それらは「六地蔵」と呼ばれ、文字通り、「六体の地蔵様の像」です。
The number ’six’ has an important meaning.
その数の「六」は重要な意味があります。
It refers to six worlds where people reincarnate after their death.
死後、人々が生まれ変わる六つの世界を指しています。
It is believed on Buddhism that people are judged in which world they are reincarnated based on their actions on this world.
この世での行いに基づいてどの世界に生まれ変わるか、人々は審議されると仏教では信じられています。
Jizo Boddhisattva warmly watch over and guide people wherever worlds they reincarnate in.
お地蔵さまは人々がどの世界に転生しようとも暖かく見守り、導いてくださいます。
These Jizo statues are located in Yushima, Aoi Ward ,Shizuoka City.
これらの地蔵は静岡市葵区油島にあります。
元々は菜流寺（さいりゅうじ）境内にあったもの
The stone statues in this picture do not look like Jizo Boddhisattva because they are too old and worn out.
この写真の石像は地蔵には見えません。あまりにも古く、元の形をとどめていないからです。
The carving on the back tells that they were made in 1441.
背中に彫られていることによると、これらの像は1441年に作られました。
（銘によると、嘉吉かきつ元年五月十六日＝室町時代の1441年）
安倍川沿い、玉機橋の近くです。
They were the oldest Jizo Boddhisattva statues in the former Abe County, the northern area along the Abe River.
安倍川沿いの北部地域、旧安倍郡の中で最も古いお地蔵様です。
These statues have been watching over people’s safety and happiness for about 600 years.
これらの像はおよそ600年間、人々の安全と幸せを見守ってきています。
Surprisingly such historical monuments are present in our hometown Shizuoka.
驚くべきことに、そのような歴史的な像が私たちの故郷、静岡に存在しています。
They convey that Shizuoka has a deep history since the ancient period.
