Comet in Moominland

Comet in Moominland"

Hi,
These days, I try to read Books in English and enjoy it.

I know there are not many English speakers who use this website, whereas it is the best practice opportunity for me to write in English, so I will try to write some reviews of books which I read.

The first book is “Comet in Moominland” written by Tove Jansson.

This book is the first in a eight-part series, which introduces how Moomintroll met the Snork Maiden, Snufkin, and the Hemulen. One day, Moomintroll and Sniff found some omens which were shaped like a comet. A comet was thought to be a warning sign, and they predicted that something unnecessary would happen in the near future. Moominstroll and Sniff decided to go on a journey to find out what would happen to them…

Frankly speaking, I hadn’t read any Moomin books before I started to read this one in English. It is because I thought that it is too easy for me to read them since they are written for small children. However, when I went to the exhibition of Tove Jansson at Sapporo Art Park Museum two years ago, I became a big fan of Tove (Indeed, I was not fascinated by her novel, but her pictures), and I became interested in reading Moomin books.

I cannot say the story itself is super good, however, it is a heartwarming story, which includes unique and cute characters. I especially like Snufkin, who is a clever-positive thinker with a sense of humor. He always plays a mouth-organ and travels around the world.

In the story, Moomintroll faced a lot of hardships and troubles during the journey, but he was always calm(maybe…too calm) and never lost his own pace. I cannot help smiling at his behavior, which made me relax. I want to go on a journey, too, after the Covid.19 is over!

Thank you for reading^^
