夏の思い出。

We went on our first family vacation in a long time. My husband, son, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed riding the waves. However, my dog Sasuke was scared of the sound of the waves and wouldn't come out to hide behind my back. He hides behind me all the time, as if to say, "I'm not here. So I was relaxing with Sasuke, watching the family.

私たちは久しぶりに家族旅行に出掛けた。夫も息子も娘も孫娘も皆が波に乗って楽しんでいる。しかし愛犬サスケは波音に怯えて私の背中に隠れて出てこない。彼は「僕はここにいないよ」と言わんばかりの様相で、ずっと私の背後に隠れている。だから私はサスケと一緒にのんびり家族の様子を眺めていた。

My granddaughter stood with her arms softly outstretched towards the sea all that time. It was as if she was breathing that ocean. It was a quiet time. It felt like an eternity to me.

私の孫娘はその時、ずっと海に向かって両腕をやわらかく拡げて立っていた。彼女はその海を呼吸しているかのようだった。静かな時間だった。私にはそれは永遠のように感じられた。
