今日取り上げるのは…

It was not Holmes's nature to take an aimless holiday, and something about his pale, worn face told me that his nerves were at their highest tension.

英文は、だれが→どうする→何をといった順番で並んでいます。
意味のかたまりで区切って、日本語を当ててから、解説にとんでみてください。

それでは、説明していきたいと思います。

to 以下はホームズの性格ではなかった / 目的のない休暇をとる(ことは) / そして何かは / 彼の青白い疲れ切った顔に関する / 教えた / 私に / 彼の神経が最高に緊張していた(ことを)

動詞に注目すると、英文のどこまでが主語なのかを見分ける解決の糸口が見えてきます。

something (何か) →どんな？→ about his pale, worn face (青白い疲れ切った顔に関する) →それがどうしたのか？→ told(教えた) → 誰に？→ me (私に) →何を教えたのか？が that の中身ということです。
