恋愛 英語クラスの物語#789：「よく言われる」　

今回は「よく言われる」を英語で言ったらどうなるかについて取り上げます。

I've been told.

で如何ですか？　こちら映画「ギャンブラー・ゲーム（２０２０年：　Betta fish」の映画の中で使われていました。　なるほどの字幕ですね。

ところで、この映画の題名の意味がよく分かりません。

通常：
Betta fish：　Siamese fighting fish, or betta as it’s known by its genus, is an elegant tropical freshwater fish that is popular as a pet and often housed in eclectic home aquariums. In the wild, native to areas like Cambodia and Thailand, the betta inhabits rice paddies and still watered canals.

映画のタイトルでは
A term given to a woman who comes off as a bitch and can not, no matter what the circumstances, get along with one of the same species, another female.
Stick a Betta Fish in the same room with another girl, that girl is coming out crying or not coming out at all.

The Betta Fish just slapped the teeth out of her best friend.

の意味で使われていると思われます。　恐ろしい金貸し「女」が出てくるのですが、彼女がこんな感じなのです。

今回の使い方：後輩女子社員ととりあえず初デートしてみた彼氏（後輩）

後輩女子社員と初デートしてみた彼氏：　先輩、先輩って、いつも美しくて、ファッションセンスなんて東京コレクションレベル、古代ギリシャ語を知っていたり、キリル文字を書いてみたり、電話番号は楔形文字で記述とか、凄いですね～

後輩女子社員：　I've been told.
　　　　　　　（よく言われるわ）

あ～　残念。　この彼氏、後輩女子社員との次のデートはおそらくありません。この時点でComverstion has run dryなので、せめてロシア語ではんせばよかったのにな～　と思います。　後輩女子社員に限らず、少々レベルの高い彼女たちは、男たちに似たようなことを言われて、飽き飽きしています。
