20071123 今度は奄美へ

かつて、多くの文化人、政界人を生んだ鹿児島県は、現在沈黙の時にあります。しかし、その活動の源となる、時代を見据えた内なるエネルギーは、桜島のマグマのように静かに噴出の時をうかがっているのです。今回の地域フォーラムは、奄美大島を舞台に、奄美独自の文化を検証します。また、アート・デザインを通して、これからの鹿児島の文化を俯瞰的に見つめ、鹿児島独自の地方都市文化を創出する足がかりとしたいと考えます（武蔵野美術大学校友会鹿児島支部長・三坂基文）

ニューヨークの次は奄美！この関連事業として開かれる「第24回む展」の巡回展に参加してきます。奄美大島と言えば「田中一村」ですね。僕はこの作家に憧れて、学生時代に2年連続で奄美大島を訪れました、民俗学のレポートで大島紬の柄を研究したり。この時期になって「憧れの地」で展覧会が開けるというのは、ニューヨークに続いて何か不思議な縁を感じます。南で答えを見つけるという、古くから画家が辿ってきた道のり。現代でも変わることはないと信じています。鹿児島〜奄美大島だから発信できる事の数々。ワークショップ、野外展示、島唄・・・などなど充実した内容となっております。
奄美の皆さん、よろしくお願いいたします。

この年は展覧会に明け暮れたような一年でした。このフライヤーに寄稿している三坂基文さんは、残念ながら2019年に他界してしまいましたが、この地域フォーラムの立役者でした。このあと、三坂さんから武蔵野美術大学校友会の支部長を僕が引き継いで、2020年に後輩の橋口博幸くんにバトンを渡しました。

校友会の恒例行事「地域フォーラム」という取り組みは、鹿児島の発案でスタートしたそうです。僕が支部長を務めていたときには、宮城、広島、横浜を訪れた思い出があります。

Kagoshima Prefecture, once the birthplace of many cultural and political figures, is now in a state of silence. However, the source of their activities, the inner energy that looks ahead to the times, is quietly waiting to erupt like the magma of Sakurajima. This year's regional forum will take place on Amami Oshima Island and examine the unique culture of Amami. In addition, through art and design, we would like to take a bird's eye view of the future culture of Kagoshima and use it as a foothold to create Kagoshima's unique regional city culture (Motofumi Misaka, President of the Kagoshima Branch of the Alumni Association of Musashino Art University).

After New York, Amami! I will be participating in the traveling exhibition of the 24th MUTEN, which will be held as a related project. Speaking of Amami Oshima, there is the artist Tanaka Isson. I admired this artist so much that I visited Amami Oshima two years in a row when I was a student, studying the patterns of Oshima pongee for my folklore report. To be able to hold an exhibition at this time of year in the "land of my dreams," following the one in New York, makes me feel some kind of strange connection. Finding answers in the south is a path that painters have followed since ancient times. I believe it will never change even today. There are many things that can be done in Kagoshima and Amami Oshima. Workshops, outdoor exhibitions, island songs, etc....

20210124 Postscript

This year has been a year of exhibitions. Unfortunately, Mr. Motofumi Misaka, who contributed to this flyer, passed away in 2019, but he was a leading figure in this regional forum. After this, I took over from Mr. Misaka as the head of the branch of the Alumni Association of Musashino Art University, and passed the baton to my younger colleague, Hiroyuki Hashiguchi, in 2020.

The annual event of the alumni association called the "Regional Forum" was started at the initiative of Kagoshima. I have fond memories of visiting Miyagi, Hiroshima, and Yokohama when I was the chapter president!
