I recently had a conversation with director Naoko Yamada, who is preparing for the release of ``Your Color'' tomorrow. I've been a fan of Yamada's work for a long time, so I really enjoyed it!

きみの色


「映画　聲の形」「平家物語」などの山田尚子監督が、思春期の少女たちが向き合う自立と葛藤、恋模様を、絵画のような美しい映像でつづったオリジナルアニメーション映画。


全寮制のミッションスクールに通うトツ子は、うれしい色、楽しい色、穏やかな色など、幼いころから人が「色」として見える。そんなトツ子は、同じ学校に通っていた美しい色を放つ少女・きみ、街の片隅にある古書店で出会った音楽好きの少年・ルイの3人でバンドを組むことになる。離島の古い教会を練習場所に、それぞれ悩みを抱える3人は音楽によって心を通わせていき、いつしか友情とほのかな恋のような感情が芽生え始める。

An original animated film by Naoko Yamada, director of ``A Silent Voice'' and ``The Tale of the Heike,'' which depicts the independence, conflicts, and love faced by adolescent girls in beautiful picturesque images.


Totsuko, who attends a mission boarding school, has been able to see people as ``colors'' since she was young, such as happy colors, joyful colors, and calm colors. Totsuko decides to form a band with Kimi, a beautiful girl who went to the same school as her, and Louis, a music-loving boy she met at a used bookstore in a corner of town. Using an old church on a remote island as a practice location, the three, each with their own worries, communicate through music, and before they know it, friendship and a hint of love begin to develop.
